I absolutely love the little call-backs and easter eggs from Pip's other books.
(Ew at Elliott Ward giving them a lift back at the end. 3 at the mention of barney and <3 at the mention of Ravi and Pip deciding her EPQ topic
A fun little read, very low stakes (obviously!) with it being a murder mystery party, still got creeped out in the cellar and adored Pip's Poirot moment at the end followed by a tantrum which is exactly chefs kiss so pip

I love the way it was written
although it can be a bit confusing at times especially bc theres double the names to remember
A fun read, set before the events of the trilogy. While it was a bit of a frustrating ending, with Pip's theory making more sense than the actual answer for the Murder Mystery, it did start to introduce us into her personality and critical thinking, as well as the different personalities of her friends.
There was also subtle foreshadowing for different snippets of the following books too, which I found interesting.
After finishing the entire “A Good Girl's Guide to Murder” series, I jumped into “Kill Joy,” and while it was enjoyable, I found it to be somewhat of a basic story compared to the main series. I think this novella should be read first to introduce some of the characters, but it didn't quite capture the same excitement and depth that I loved in the series.
I breezed through it in less than two hours, and while Jackson's writing remains engaging, the plot felt a bit more straightforward and less thrilling. It provided a nice introduction to the characters, but I was hoping for a little more complexity and intrigue.
Overall, while I appreciate “Kill Joy” for its role in the series, it didn't resonate with me as much as the main books did. If you're a fan of the series, it's worth a read, but it may not have the same captivating flair that made the original trilogy so enjoyable.
This book was indeed fun n quick. I loved the way things unravelled n how this book led to the grand beginning of AGGGTM.
A fun, kinda silly and dramatic novella, and Pip's origin story, that essentially explains why she picked the Andie Bell case in the first book. It also has a bit of foreshadowing for the first two books as well (more the first than the second). It's a nice little palate cleanser between the dark book two and what I assume will be the even darker book three.

Well, this was a breezy read. Always glad to see our favorite amateur sleuth, Pip, back in action, and there's a certain promise of intrigue in the air.
Also, why is Ant still here? Ugh. One of the worst and most annoying character ever made. Ant adds nothing but frustration to the story.
There's a glimmer of something more interesting, though. Pip's over-the-top reactions are apparently the fuel for her investigation into the Andie Bell and Sal Singh case, hinting at a connection to the main series arc. This creates an interesting tension – Pip's melodramatic tendencies both hinder and propel the narrative forward.
Overall, this was okay, but it doesn't take us anywhere particularly meaningful. Jackson's writing chops are undeniable, but this novella lacks the weight and purpose we've come to expect from the series. Maybe it's time to get back to the heart of the story Pip first captured us with.
I should probably re-read this book, I read this so spaced out that I don't think it had the same effect that Good Girl Bad Blood had on me

A fun, short prequel. It's the start of Pip's interest in investigation and true crime.
It was fun to see how her brain picked up a lot of stuff!
I absolutely LOVED getting back into this universe. AGGGTM still is my all time favorite YA trilogy. This was such a fun and quick read. I missed Pip so much. I loved how it took place before he trilogy so I know everything but they don't hahah. I wish we had more novellas like this with these characters because I just love them so much. Maybe one like after the trilogy ends... would be very nice! Or more to the universe with the characters in general, I just miss Pip and Ravi so much!!
