Some of my favorite stories are told without words just through beautiful art! This book has no words but I've spent a few minutes just studying what the pictures are conveying and the amazing detail that was put into each page. Absolutely a gorgeous adventure!

Anything else: “She freed the bird at the end. I knew she was going to because that was nice.”
I think: this is a gorgeous, word-less picture book. I was worried that my 4.5 year old wasn't going to understand a book without words, but she actually really understood what was happening. There was a lot of oohing and aahing over the pictures, and especially the forms of transportation and castles and not all of it on the part of the preschooler.

Well, I liked it. But my audience did not. Oh well. We'll try again in a few months/years.
Edited: Tried again, with more involved narrating. I got goosebumps. Audience enjoyed.
Everything you want in a picture book...beautiful illustrations...fantastic story...adventure...action...magic....Journey. It was a Caldecott Honor book a few years back, a well-deserved selection. And now the journey continues on, with more beautiful illustrations, another fantastic story, more adventure, and more magic in Quest. First thought, lovely cover. Second thought, interesting wordless picture book. Third thought, which in turn is the most important... how in the world did a wordless picture book bring me to tears?! A lonely girl with a red chalk bit, an incredible imaginary world of greens, blues, and golds... and a purple positive possibility...
