pour one out for the big man. typical for auster, this absurdist genre-crashing yarn defies placement. it could have been his last novel but was pretty much his first.
Post apocalyptic novel told through a letter by Anna Blume, a 19 yo who went to a country possibly devastated by an epidemic in search of her brother and found so many other things - sickness, destruction, rubble and poverty, but also friends and love and hope.

An interesting read, but without any semblance of a story. In fact, it is as if Auster has only bothered to write down his idea for a compelling setting. Not recommended.
