Yeah... this isn't for me. 😬 I hate these characters lol
Absolutely loved this book! Very, very spicy but well thought out. It wasn't necessarily like reading porn but simply just a romance novel with the right amount of teasers. Also loved some of the lines from the JJ and Henry! Totally recommend (AT LEAST 16+).
These characters need to be put down. Only rabies or some zombie disease would explain why they had sex 24/7 and when they weren't “climbing each other like trees” as the author puts it, they were talking about it... constantly.
picked this up knowing i wouldn't love it but i needed a mind-numbing no thoughts needed kind of book to read - i also wanted to see why everyone loves hockey men so much.
I regret it.
It wasn't mind numbing as my brain was constantly whirring with thoughts of how DUMB these characters are.
It was an erotica book with no plot - i know labelling it as romance will generate more sales but call it what it is, erotica.
I love me some mind-numbing erotica from time to time but when it lasts 400+ pages with no plot? nah.
The “plot” was time skipped. TIME SKIPPED.
Characters had very detailed sex - a passing mention about their skating careers with no details whatsoever - more sex
This book was horny as fuck but it was a fun ride lol
Nathan and Anastasia are so cute
It was about to be 4 stars til the pregnancy trope ruined it for me
Right out the gate there is talk about weight and diet planning. I don't have any triggers so this doesn't bother me but I know it can affect some people, so I wanted to mention it. It also tackles anxiety and therapy. I feel like all of these were handled with care but I don't have personal experience with any of this so I would suggest checking out some own voices reviews.
I loved the relationship in this book. The banter between the characters was on point and it was honestly my favorite part of the book. Anastasia is a figure skater, and Nate is the captain of the hockey team. They have a bit of a rough start but that quickly gets resolved and they are lusting after each other. I never fully got on board with the FMC. With Nate I love her but she just really got on my nerves sometimes which is where the spoilers come in, so warning don't read past this point.
Anastasia skating partner is a complete ass. I hate him so much and she kept making excuses for him. Like it was blatantly clear to everyone that he's not a good guy. She had no problem sticking up for herself when it came to Nate and pretty much everyone else but when it came to Aaron, she just let him walk all over her. And the reasoning behind Nate's anger was bs. I'm not sure if this would be considered SA but I wanted to mention it as well. In the end Aaron forcefully kissed Anastasia which is when she finally kicks him to the curb. Overall, I enjoyed this book and definitely want to continue on with the series hopefully sooner rather than later.
This just wasn't for me. I couldn't get into the characters or story so I ditched this one about 20% into it.
Okay so the book wasn't the best one I've ever read.It was boring but really cute.too much spice but I liked it a little.dont reccomand but reccomand.Thats it
This is a romance novel that I would say is best summed up as doing perfectly what it says on the tin. Personally for me, neither the characters nor their trials and tribulations were particularly compelling to me. That being said I recognize that is my personal preferences and expectations of romance. I am no stranger to the average genre romance story, and this one with plenty of sex and a competitive sports college setting, is definitely in the realm of a rather traditional romance story arc. Which made it overall predictable and not in a way I found terribly compelling.
I think the messages of the story are good ones, the relationship is sweet and built up in a way that I think reflects a good and healthy relationship even with smatterings of enemies to lovers. But about a third of the way in I had to force myself into finishing the work, not because it was awful or anything but because I was just not invested. The work was a little over hyped online in my opinion, and I think that led to warped expectations. By the end of the story I was compelled by the developing plot beats but I wish it hadn't taken so long for me to feel that way.
Overall Icebreaker is a cute frenemies to lovers story doing exactly what it set out to do perfectly, it simply wasn't for me. I won't, however, be surprised to see this made into a film in about 5 years.
I don't know why this was 400 pages. I don't know why I kept reading it after the first 50, but I did because curiosity killed the cat. It did bring me back to my hockey girlfriend days, which were good times so it gets a star for that I suppose.

NOTES Can't believe I read spicy romance books now - they are so much easier to read and serve as a nice breather in between larger series. Icebreaker was popcorn reading at it's finest, really enjoyed the relationship of the MCs and it went by super fast. ty tiktok

This had to be my first review—
Honestly, I don't know dow I didn't dnf this book—it was so bad. Literally spent four months trying to read it. Gave me the biggest reader's blocks multiple times. The characters were okay, I guess. I really wanted to like this book more, but it was unbearably boring. There was no plot, just sex, and expected cliches. I feel like this was a cheap copy of From Lukov With Love, even the endings were similar.
God, the characters in Icebreaker were so cringe and it felt so forced. I really wanted to love this book, but I couldn't.
2.0 o 2.5 estrellas
I won't remember a single thing about these characters in a week but it made me laugh so 3 stars ✨
OMG!! i loved reading this book so much! i had butterflies in my stomach the hole time. my favorite chapter has to be the epilogue. OMG
i just can't shut up about it.
3.5 stars. Steamy and a fun read, but it was really, really long for a romance novel. I liked the community and dynamics of the hockey players and the “found family” aspect for both Stassi and Nate, since they were both a long way (distance or emotionally) from their real families. No lack of communication here, that was one thing that was done truly excellently - Stassi had been in therapy for a long time and was quite adept at telling people what she needed and what was what, without being preachy and while still having things she needed to work on herself.
Do I believe at all that hockey-player Nate could be a figure skating partner while Stassi's actual skating partner was injured? Absolutely not, but romance reasons. Their dynamic was cute, she was the grumpy one, a kinda-one-night-stand-turned-more.
It's not super super clear from the description, but also this is a book set in a college town and all the characters are college students, if that's not your thing.
CW: gaslighting, unwanted kissing, disordered eating, parental death (past), epilogue pregnancy
