4,75⭐️ Wow! What a fun ride this story was, the characters and the places were so vividly described. I loved all the details put in this story and the care to make sure there were somehow whimsy on almost every page.
This story was such a wild and fun ride and I really enjoyed not knowing exactly where it would take me and how I would get there.
I'm so glad I found this book browsing in my Goodreads and that I made the choice to break my self-imposed book buying ban to read it! ❤️
3.5 rounded down.
I feel like this book almost tried to do too much. Like we brainstormed what could happen, but didn't edit it down and tried to include it all.
That said, it was still an enjoyable read. I liked the characters even if they were surrounded by a little more chaos then they maybe needed it be.
i was really looking forward to reading this book but i got 7 chapters in and i just could not finish it. in my opinion, the writing style isn't great, it's all over the place and just not for me. DNF.
Fell a little flat for me, and not sure why! It had everything going for it: great setting, good premise and loads of research into witches of the past, fun characters and mysteries but something didn't quite work for me. Possibly slight lack of romance? Or something about Essie? I'm not sure. That said, I think it will be perfect for some and I am still looking forward to reading Hex and the City!
DNFing @ 32%. Now, it may just be me, but holy crap I cannot get into this book. I gave it a good go – I got to 30%, and at this point I should really care about at least one of the characters, but nope. I don't care at all. About ANY of it. The world seems like it has potential, but again, there's just nothing grabbing hold of me. It seems like there should be a romance somewhere in here, but what we've gotten so far doesn't really pique my interest at all. I think it might be how this is written, but who knows. I'm just not interested, and life's too short to keep reading something that just isn't doing it for me. Moving onwards.
