Don't judge but I read this at least once a year just because it makes me feel cozy ok? F jkr I will always be a Harry potter kid in my heart
God, this was SO good!!!!!!! I loved how easy of a read this was but also how much of it was just them living at Hogwarts. so much of the movies is just action, action action, but I really just love the story of them discovering different parts of magic and learning through their courses. I'm not like a pothead or anything but the writing is just phenomenal.
O final simplesmente tocante
Man this one was boring. Nothing happens for 3/4 of the book, then a whole lot of talking where everything gets answered without a second thought, and things unwind pretty easily for Harry and his friends.
I hope it gets better in the next books because I won't read another as bland as this one
Rereading this series for the first time since my original time through. Such a wonderful world.
I don't know how she does it but yet again, this book is better than the first two. the mystery was easy to solve but when you did find out, it was shocking and satisfying. I would recommend this book to anyone.
I am continuing my quest of reading the Harry Potter books for the first time.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I must say the book is pretty slow passed and I had the feeling that 3/4 of the book was filling. But that last 25% was worth it. I believe the book is worthwhile and great just for the ending, I was on the edge of my seat in the final chapters, where there were revelations and plot twists one after the other.
I am still enjoying this book series and will continue reading it, I am excited to know what Harry's gang gets up to in the next book.
Slight rant about a plot part ahead... SPOILER ALERT
In my opinion, the use of the time turner is a little cheap, but mainly because I don't like when stories start messing with time. Although I must say that this time it was used very well, by not allowing the characters to change anything but just giving the audience a different perspective of the facts.
What I did not like about the time turner was the sudden appearance of the artifact. We are currently in a huge mess luckily I had this whole time a time machine in my pocket... It just doesn't feel right. It is true that it is kind of hinted at with Hermione's tight schedule, but at one point in the book, Hermione doesn't attend her classes because she overslept and it makes her upset, with the existence of the time turner she could just go back and attend those classes, not a big deal...
I just would have liked a little more foreshadowing such that at the moment where this device plays a role in the main story it doesn't feel like it is a plot convenience just placed there to solve the current problem.
In summary, I believe from a world-building point of view, the time-turner is a solid artifact with clear and reasonable rules that won't break the tension for future adventures. My problem comes from a narrative point of view where the artifact should have been introduced or at least hinted at before its main use. But it isn't a big deal, at the end of the day this book is for kids, not my 20-year-old ass haha.
I actually understood this better reading/listening to the story than I did following the movie!
Very much loved this part so far in this series. Loved the dynamic between Harry and Sirius. And Lupin became my instant favorite character after reading this book.
Anecdotally, this seems to be a lot of people's favorite of the first three books, if not of the entire series. Rereading them now it's definitely my least favorite of the three so far (though still great).
It feels like there's only a little bit of information dolled out throughout the first three quarters of the book, so then when the climax happens there are pages and pages of exposition just for it to make sense. It's wild!
It's still fun though and some great characters are introduced. Dot's response when I asked for her review: “Good job for making this book”.
I kinda skimmed this book (oops) because there were so MANY plotholes... Literally a drop of that truth potion could have solved the entire plot of this book, all the problems in it but whateverrr...
I did love the characters though and am excited for the rest of the story, now that we are nearing the more dark storylines.
Did I love this? OF COURSE, I DID! If you don't like the Harry Potter series, you might be syko...
I can certainly understand, why I managed to fall in love with Harry Potter series starting with this particular book. Well, I loved Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets no less, but Prisoner of Azkaban is the one that started the Harry Potter journey for me.
