Grayson and Kira. A marriage of convenience. She needs to get out from underneath her father and he needed funds to keep his family's vineyard going.
The emotional journey these two have to go through is crazy. I feel for both of them. Growing up, neither had perfect lives and both had horrible parents. Watching them figure out how to coexist with each other and get their new lives off the ground was incredible.
There were times where I felt like Grayson was too pushy, given Kira's past. There were times he didn't know and there were times he did. He did and said some very hurtful things, and I realize he was hurting, but bro ... not cool. For this reason, I give it a 4 star rating.
I LOVE Charlotte and Walter. The perfect people. So adorable. And of course, sweet sugar pie. :)
Being sick at home, I asked a friend for titles of chick lit. She referred me to this, and I was suspicious: it seemed more of a Harlequin title, not that it wouldn't have been part of my reading.
It is delightful! Based on the old “arranged marriage”, plus conniving parents, horrid exes, inheritance and all cliches thrown together, the author made it real, vulnerable, sweet characters you root for. It got me close to tears three different times. Well done.
