Oh my god, I had to give up. I think the only reason this book made it to my radar is because Pedro Pascal read it, but it kept dragging and dragging. DNF at 77% is a really painful way to go out, but I just cannot keep dragging myself through this book.Want to listen to something with spooky radio vibes? Just listen to Welcome to Night Vale. Or heck, read it! This book is not at all what I was expecting. I don't think there is any way to put it into words and I don't think I'll ever fully understand it
this book had its cool moments but it felt like the majority was very wondering. pretentious at times, i did end up liking the supernatural radio idea about the book. i would never say this book was “scary”.
i would say its a story about a likable main character (who may or may not be an unreliable narrator) who is haunted by his past.
i think if this book cut out all the boring pointless chunks of descriptive metaphysical text, and stuck faithfully to the story- id be better
Started strong, then it meandered, pointlessly in my opinion, to a flaccid conclusion. Some of the calls to the radio station were rather interesting and a couple of scenes were really poignantly written but I never got invested in what little main story there was.
