I listened to the audio book so that I could hear the voice! It took me a while to finish this one because I really wanted to be able to give it my full attention so I can appreciate the humor. It’s ridiculous and incredibly British. I loved it.
It’s funny, but the gag gets old fast. Don’t try to read it all in one go, put it down for a while after each tale to keep it fresh — it’s not like there’s an intricate plot to keep track of lol.
From the sounds of it, the audiobook would be a better medium too. I’ll try to find that for the next book.
How do you rate a book that's intentionally terrible? I had a great time, especially enhanced by mentally reading it in Garth Marenghi's voice and intonation.
I'm a horror fan so this should have been right up my street, I even enjoyed Darkplace but I didn't enjoy this. The jokes were crude, the gross out horror too obvious and the story too weak. Just didn't work for me.
The writing style brings the writer's fictional voice to life, as you hear the author's alter ego speak, whilst the words come alive in your eyes and resound into your ears.
