This was a very quick and easy read. While it is a quick one, I wouldn't classify this as a thriller. It felt more like a high school drama with cat fights and scenes of hissing and raised hunches. While not a bad read, it wasn't great either.

I had to give this a quarter star bump because the twist being that actually the MC is less cool and more cowardly/unable to act/just like... not fun to read as an MC that's meant to be read as mad mentally ill was unintentionally hilarious. The balls to make that the twist. Everyone in this book is annoying and boring and it's not an interesting thriller premise to begin with, frankly.
2.5 stars. The title of this debut thriller grabbed me, and the above average writing kept me turning the pages. Sadly, the reveals landed with a thud, and the characters' reactions to finding out the truth felt anticlimactic and unrealistic. I would be interested in checking out Jenny Hollander's next book, but I hope she tries a different genre.
