Ughhhhh Joy McCullough is so GOOD! I loved how these girls - GIRLs - were able to imagine their stories in some ways. Just amazing.
this book does what every feminist retelling version of shakespeare is trying to do
Thanks to Libro.fm and the publisher for the audio!
First of all, brilliant audio production. I thought all the narrators really added something to their characters. The format and the premise were both pretty unique, so I appreciated that as well. I loved how McCullough gave these characters some room to explore their circumstances and choices (or lack thereof) in a self-described thought-experiment. As someone who did their undergrad work on the feminine other in Shakespeare, I found the whole thing really intriguing.
hell yeah this is for me, and for angsty teen feminist theater girlies (of all gender) everywhere
