Don't Make Me Think, Revisited

So straightforward and helpful. An excellent introduction to common sense web design, and a very quick and engaging read.

Very little content, basically a list of books you should have read instead of this one

While it may be a bit basic, I would strongly recommend this to anyone getting started in UX.

Another one in the “how come did I not read this sooner?!” mile of books. A must read for everyone building websites, apps,... Whatever the users interact with on a day to day basis. Very interesting, well written with a wonderful sense of humor, go and get it already!

This book's a great guide to creating usable websites, highlighting common design flaws found in various sites and offering suggestions on how to avoid such issues. The book's concise, following its own design rules. The only reasons for not achieving 5 stars were; the book's examples are now dated, and a lot of the advice I found I intuitively knew; though have experienced a number of sites and systems where that was not the case meaning this resource definitely has an audience in need of its guidance.

Short, simple book, but a bit too rudimentary for someone at my level. What I liked:

- The simple language used to explain normally complex matters.

- The good humor, examples, and metaphors the writer employs to explain things; they really work.

Now the drawbacks:

- I find the information in the book to be a little too simplistic and common sense. Even for people with only an interest in the area of web usability, they may find that they already know, or at least have thought in a very similar way when they browse daily.

- I understand that this isn't a scientific book, and the author does refer to Nielsen a couple of times, but all in all, the knowledge in this book comes directly from the writer's mind, with very few scientific sources to confirm what is being said.

- Even though the second edition is from 2005, almost eight years have passed, and most of the webpage elements he focuses on in the book aren't really that commonly used anymore. Still, this isn't the author's fault. Books age, and so does the content they contain.
