The only reason that this isn't a full 5 stars is a) the unnecessary length of these books and b) the first 15-20% of the book, or the part before Hudson showed up. Otherwise, this was miles better than the first book. I'd go as far to say that the first book was almost entirely unnecessary, with the exception of introducing Grace to the paranormal world.
This was so hard to put down, and the twists in the last 100 or so pages had my heart racing. Yes, it was somewhat predictable and had some classic tropes such as the mating bond breaking and love interest switch-up, but it was still such an entertaining, “guilty pleasure” level read. Definitely one of my favorite reads of the year so far. ...I need more Hudson now k bye.
What an ending... Can't wait to see what's happening with Jaxon, Hudson, Grace and their friends.
The story itself was interesting. The supposedly big revelation in the beginning of this book was super predictable and it took quite a long time for them to finally figure it out. That being said, I was curious how the rest of the story would go. There were some other smaller predictable elements, but that's okay.
The writing style was still a little cringy sometimes (strong ‘teenage puppy love' vibes from FMC with a lot of ‘swooning'). Also the use of ‘AF' was still way too frequent but fortunately a lot less than the first book.
In the beginning I had a hard time reading the parts that were supposed to be British English. It was basically just a lot of British swear words in a row. Sometimes it felt like Hudson was some kind of hooligan instead of a posh vampire prince.
much better than the first book, tho it still does feel like ACOTAR deeply inspired the whole story and it does slightly read like fanfiction. The writing got better towards the end, enough to make me look forward to reading Covet
Well alrighty then ... that was an insane, chaotic and WILD ride!!! Not what I expected. Just as good, if not even better than the first book. All the emotions with this one but most especially love the humor. It makes this series for me.
I LOVE Grace and Macy. They are seriously two of the most amazing, strong, courageous and powerful women characters and I LOVE that they kick butt and keep moving like it's no big deal!!
So this was a behemoth of a book and did not read like that AT ALL. I quickly got wrapped up in this one and rarely came up for air.
I was very disappointed with the first book but everyone talked about how much better this one is. But I have no idea what they are talking about. Crave was a ripoff of Twilight and this one rips off The Host. Clearly, Tracy Wolff wants to be Stephenie Meyer and copies her plot ideas in her own world. Yes this book has dragons, wolves, witches, and vampires. But there are too many similarities.
The worst part for me was breaking the mating bond just to form a new one. I was actually impressed when the mating bond was broken because I was excited to see how Grace overcame that loss and what she did when she could choose who to be with. But instead, we get a new bond. Which makes no sense. If the bond is supposed to be with your true love and the perfect person for you, how can you have two mates?
