I have a love-hate relationship with CoHo's books. They are the best thing to listen while at work but every time I finish one, I say never again... And yet go back to one more...
Confess follows another “love” story, with the POVs of the male and female character changing in every chapter, which I really like and find interesting at books. The storyline is good, until it becomes a bit creepy when you come to an end and realise when and how it began.
The characters are building nicely, and I really like Owen, until I find his actions and the backstory of him and Auburn more weird than anything. I like Auburn at the beginning but then, I just want to scream at her and realise that most of CoHo's female characters are weak and just depend on the male character to defend and rescue them.
Finishing this book, I was left at the middle. Not knowing if I liked the book, or just wanted to light a fire and dance around it.
Overall I gave it a 3 because at no point, even when I was so bored with the cliché storytelling, I couldn't DNF it. I wanted to reach to the end and find out how their story started.
Dit is denk ik het beste Colleen Hoover boek wat ik heb gelezen! Het heeft zo'n mooie opzet en echt alles is geweldig. Er waren zo veel dingen die ik niet zag aankomen (en ook niet ga benoemen, want spoilers).
Als je dit boek leest en uiteindelijk niet zo boos bent op Trey als dat ik ben, snap ik het ook niet meer. Ik dacht dat ik (na het lezen van It ends with us) niet bozer kon zijn op een karakter dan dat ik op Ryle was, maar nee, Trey heeft het overwonnen....

At first, this didn't feel like a typical Colleen Hoover book. It took a while for me to warm to it, but boy, when I did, what a great story.
I like the slow reveals of the characters' issues. It was a little like reading a mystery. In fact, I thought I had it all figured out, but I didn't, which made me like it even more.
Auburn and Owen are outcasts. Parts of their history, despite their innate goodness, make them seem like bad guys. They aren't. But that bonds them even more. And their problematic pasts also limit their future options, making their present path narrow and uncomfortable.
They tend to get along from the start which turns out to be a big problem with Auburn's extended family and also for Owen too, who only has a father left. I like the details that Owen only had three contacts in his phone: his father, the local bartender, and a distant cousin he never calls.
Because so may layers are revealed slowly, it almost feels like any details are apt to be spoilers. So, I'll just say, stay with this one to the very end. You won't guess it, though it is very believable.

3 stars coz I enjoyed reading the confessions and the artwork. As for the plot, still trying to figure out what happened.
If I could give this book all of the stars in the world I most definitely would. This just might be my favorite Colleen Hoover book I've read so far. I connected with both main characters in so many ways it shocked me. It was an absolute joy to read this book. I couldn't put it down and the way I just.. connected with some of the story made me feel heard. And I absolutely love that. No doubt that this won't be a favorite because it definitely is. Safe to say Colleen Hoover is the only person allowed to break my heart several times.
This book took me by surprise in that I didn't expect a lot of the major plot twists. Maybe it's because of how young the characters are but I found them at times too corny, or too immature. But it's interesting how the dialogue changed my perception a little when more and more secrets were revealed. Still I found some of the inner dialogue from the main character kind of eye roll moments. Especially how slut shaming she was with herself and incredibly insecure. I also found the falling in love kind of rushed. The main characters were sweet and had really great lines between them but I didn't feel a deep connection through the writing. I even skipped the sex scene and was way more interested in their individual problems than the conflict of there love. Although there was a great improvement in character development overall, I found the development and or ending a little rushed. The story was still very beautiful and I guess the insecurities and immature flaws in the characters made them more real. But it made me not invest myself as much as I would have liked. Overall it was a good read but I wouldn't recommend this particular stand alone from the other works of Colleen Hoover.
Confess is everything you would expect to read in a Colleen Hoover novel. It starts off with one of the most depressing prologues I've ever read. The story that follows is equal parts sadness, frustration, sweet moments, and the feeling of wanting to toss your book at the wall. I have yet to be disappointed with a CoHo book, I highly recommend this!
April 11, 2017 Update: Ummm so this is a TV show with like all the episodes out and I don't even know how that slipped under my radar.
Wow. Two Colleen Hoover books in one day. I'm all out now, but you know I would try to make it three if I had a copy of Maybe Someday..
Anyways, review to come sometime tomorrow.

The paintings were nice. It's nice some of it were shown on the book, and like other Coleen Hoover books, this one is not a cliche, if I'm not mistaken, this is the first I have read of destiny-serendipity like story. Good one
My favorite Colleen Hoover book, this one. Definitely. Like, I literally can't, I loved it so much. It was just so so so so so so so so so so so amazing. And I fucking love that these two characters have both been through shit but they just pick themselves up and they keep going and they get over it (as much as is possible) and they did it all on their own, like, they were fine with their past before they even met and I LOVED that, because they did it without leaning on anyone but themselves.
I just fucking loved this book so much.
