Fun read! Ilona Andrew's books are pretty much all enjoyable. I like this series, my second favorite from the writing team behind Th Edge series. Many laughable moments, a badass female lead, neat magic system, romance well written, and freshen out characters. The Inn itself is very interesting. I love when a home, building has a mind of its own in a story.
This was fun. Unique premise and a great blend of action and humor.
If you like urban fantasy and have ever looked around a Costco thinking about what you could use as a weapon, this book is for you.
It goes quick. I listened to the graphic audio version and enjoyed it.
a good, quick book. some typical Urban Fantasy Tropes.
I enjoyed that the Plot wasn't entirely focused on the Romance and that while it was there it was subdued. I dislike it when the Romance takes over the plot, so this was perfect. It was interesting to learn that this book was written and released chapter by chapter online. even with that I never felt the delay or the change.
I also liked that near the End the story resolved itself in such a way that i'm excited to see what happens next, but not worried about “power creep” or crazy scaling or Romance taking over the whole thing.
I am also really in love with the Magic of the Inns, very unique and very exciting.

CAWPILECharacters. The characters all play there role, there is a little bit of being a stereotype, but they diverge enough to be just fine.AtmosphereThe Atmosphere is clear, and truly feels like it could be on earth.Writingi never felt like it was too infodumpyPlotThe Plot is good. starts with a small mystery and slowly expands and grows into something more. while keeping many mysteries and future things available.IntrigueThe intrigue of the world and the Innkeepers and what happened with Dina's Parents really brought me in.LogicNothing felt too out of place or illogical, some small "conincidences" but to be expectedEnjoymentI enjoyed this book a lot, it hit all the right notes without hitting them too hard or too often.
I will be talking about it on Libromancy 06/20/2021 https://libromancy.podbean.com/
Short, fun little supernatural novel set in a magical inn. I love the idea of sentient houses so this was a really cool setting to see on page. The main character has the ability to rearrange the house at will, so she can fit the amount of rooms for the guests she has. The magic mentioned in Clean Sweep has a unique flavor to it that definitely made me want to keep reading.
The story itself is a fairly typical supernatural style short novel with mentions of vampires and werewolves and witches, amongst other (possibly) unique species. The characters are neat, but not too complicated yet which is totally fine in a book like this. It's a quick read, but a fun one so I can't wait to get into the next one.
Dina and Sean were (obviously) the most interesting characters so I hope there's more of them in the next novels in this series!
This was the gateway books for me for the author. After I picked it up, I could not stop reading until I went through all of their books. Including the series Kate Daniels, Hidden Legacy, The Edge, and even their Kinsmen novellas. I absolutely love their writing style, the creative world building, the romantic tensions, all of it.
This books specifically had great world building, kick-ass but humble heroine, strong but subdued alpha male, super creative world building, great plot. I couldn't get enough.
Science fiction and fantasy combine as Ilona Andrews sets the stage for an Innkeeper who provides lodgings for otherworldly and supernatural visitors. Armed with a magical broom that can transform at her whim and a sentient house, Dina’s goal is to protect her visitors and ensure they enjoy their stay. When a creature stalks the town and threatens the comfort of her inn, it’s up to Dina, the local werewolf, and a cosmic vampire to put an end to it.
Clean Sweep was such a unique experience. Reading about Dina’s magical abilities and use of the Inn combined with the presence of other worlds and space vampires took a little adjustment. There was plenty of backstory and world-building to lay down a foundation for how it all works, but it needs a bit more refinement. Being that this is the first book in the series, there is plenty of room to grow.
There was also a healthy dose of filtration and alpha male posturing for those looking into the budding romance side of stories. And Dina is not the type of woman to back down from a challenge. Being matched up against a domineering personality would certainly have sparks flying.
Dina is an enjoyable character to read about. Her past is tragic and carries a hint of mystery. She is new to owning her inn but is still steadfast in her beliefs to uphold the rules of innkeepers, yet she isn’t afraid to find a few loopholes to protect more than just her guests. She also has a delightful dog named Beast who is small but carries big dog energy and humor into the story.
Clean Sweep is for those looking to explore fantasy with a sci-fi twist and light hints of romance. This is an easy to read enjoyable journey.

Dina is an “Innkeeper” who has magical powers from her inn. The inn is a sanctuary for aliens travelers like vampires, werewolves, fae, demons, etc. There are mysterious killings around the town of livestock and animals. Dina is trying to get to the bottom of that. In walks Sean Evans who is a new werewolf in the neighborhood. They of course butt heads and have to find a way to work together.
That was a fun, quick little book. I loved the way it ended, it made me laugh. It wasn't some big cliffhanger. Looking forward to more!
Really great fantasy read. I didn't expect the world to be as expansive as it was nor did I expect all the awesome action. The characters were a nice surprise as well with their bad ass attitudes and comical exchanges.
A short but filling read to devour in a couple sittings, just what the doctor ordered.
