Cheddar Off Dead

This should have been my jam: a cozy about a cheese shop? It had great side characters, a cozy town, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I had to force myself to read it. I mean, I struggled. All I can think is that I just didn't care enough about Willa. I will not be continuing the series.

This was a great introduction to the Cheese Shop Mysteries. Willa Bauer has opened her new cheese shop, Curds & Whey and she needs a good review from the food critic Guy Lippinger. Guy is brusque and full of himself and she's sure he is going to be less than kind in his review. So when he shows up dead with her cheese knife in him, she is considered the prime suspect.

This is a fun cozy with great characters and an interesting mystery. I gave it 3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4.

Cheddar Off Dead is a fun cozy mystery. Recently I found book 2 in this series (Gone for Gouda) and loved it so much, I had to read book 1. Definitely not disappointed. This is going to end up being one of favorite cozy series.

I can't figure out what my favorite part of this one was, the cheese, the mystery, or characters. All the cheese descriptions are just so amazing that I had to go buy some cheese from the store. I suspected everyone and changed my mind about my number one suspect several times. However in all that suspecting, I didn't suspect the actual murderer! The secrets that everyone was holding on to really helped drive the mystery. The characters are fantastic. Baz, Willa, Archie, and Mrs. Schultz were amazing! I love the relationships Will has with them. It made her little shop seem so cozy and so much like family. This was an absolutely fabulous start to this series.

I loved the unique shop and the cheese knowledge! It's a very fun cozy, for sure. My tender heart felt bad for all the different love interests, though, which distracted me from the mystery a bit, haha. But it was fun to see such a community effort in solving the crime!
