Botchan

I had no idea what to expect when I started this book, but was pleasantly surprised. While at first Botchan seems comically and frustratingly cantankerous, his honest nature eventually won me over. It's a brief read, but it has a great sense of humor and a satisfying ending.

Certainly feels like the “Catcher in the Rye” of Japan. Luckily this was markedly better than Salinger's. Hopefully will someday meet a fan that can explain why this book is so famous (other than its brevity).

Quedé un poco decepcionada de este libro. No sé de donde dicen que es cómico o divertido o que es la versión oriental de El Guardián entre el Centeno.

Son las vivencias de un novato maestro que tenía una juventud cómoda en Tokio y que al ser ubicado fuera de la ciudad tiene su adaptarse a la vida rural por su propia cuenta.
