This would be more realistic if Jack hosted a daily podcast about the stock market
Great page turner but disappointed in the lack of answers to 1. Why does jack go to Thailand and 2. Did jack or Esther write the notes in the book.
i really enjoyed this thriller a lot and for a domestic thriller i feel like it did something different. it wasn't revolutionary but it was entertaining.
This book is about the image of the perfect wife who is married to the perfect husband and they have the perfect marriage... on the outside. But, ‘behind closed doors' things are not what they seem. Not gonna lie, it took me a minute to get into this story. The book is written where one chapter is the present storyline and the next is what happened in the past. I get why it was written this way, but towards the middle the present story line feeds into the past and it switches up a little and it jumps back and forth in the same story line if that makes sense. It was a little confusing, but once you follow, it picks right back up. Behind Closed Doors was no where near the top of my TBR list, but my best friend said I should read it so she would have someone to talk to about it. She said she got chills from the ending and I have to agree with her. The ending was really good. I had no idea this was B.A. Paris's debut novel until after I read it. I'd have to say that it was a pretty good book for a debut novel. One of the best debut novels I have read!

I've heard really great things about this book for years. I was excited to finally crack it open and see what everyone was talking about. It wasn't a bad thriller at all.
I just felt it to be slower paced, repetitive and because of that, a little bit predictable.
I did love the relationship that Grace and Millie had.
The ending picked up just a bit and the very last chapter had my heart pounding.
Overall, I wasn't super shocked or surprised and I could do with it being a little faster, but it was still entertaining enough for me to enjoy.

I mean this book was super fucked up but I have to admit the author had me in a chokehold the whole time and I just had to know how it ended and I'm so glad I stuck around
Also RIP Molly but at least it wasn't a random death for shock effect

this is very straightforward and not very twisty. a good, classic domestic thriller. not violent but lots of psychological manipulation
I read it in a day - although I felt anxious most pf the time I couldn't put it down. I suffered along side Grace
Between a 4.5 and 5, but rounded up to a 5 purely on the horrible dread and constant unease and anxiety and claustrophobic this book gave me. Jack as a character makes your skin crawl and I found his sick focus on his new wife's sister Millie who had Down syndrome extremely unnerving and nauseating. I found this thriller completely unique and I wanted to race through this book while simultaneously shouting run and escape Grace every chapter! This is an incredibly strong gaslighting dark dark dark suspense domestic thriller and I was living for it!
I have a few issues with the beginning (young Grace's tantrum over her parent's high-risk pregnancy) and ending (how was Grace in the dark about every detail when she's the wife?), but overall a fast and terrifying read. I liked the time shifts, which added a little more intrigue and tension to what would've been an otherwise straightforward story. Definitely a psychological thriller ripe for a movie adaptation.

Great story idea, unique concept. I actually dreamt about the details. I loved the ending. Still thinking about it this morning. Another great domestic thriller.
I am once again in awe of how genuinely stupid and lacking in common sense the protagonists of Paris's novels are.
finished this in one night. it was so captivating and interesting and like maha said, fast paced. I had to reread the ending four times to feel completely satisfied
I excitedly picked this up at my local used book shop as it's been hyped up recently on TikTok's book community as a thriller they couldn't put down. I think I must be jaded from reading too many thrillers because I don't get the hype.
Plot holes abound, the characters are almost totally unbelievable, and the writing style is, frankly, childish. The dialogue ... I'm at a loss for words. I'm truly stunned at the amount of hype this book has gotten lately. Here's the thing, if you don't read many thrillers, maybe this will be your cup of tea. If you don't care whether it's realistic or not, sure. But don't go in thinking this is the new Gone Girl. I assure you, it's not. However, it IS a quick read. I finished it in a weekend of very casual reading. Fast paced, keeps you entertained, kind of like a Lifetime movie in novel form. Yeah, that about sums it up.
Why am I always reading these weird books where a relationship seems perfect but really the husband is crazy?
Oh man, love that Millie (the sister with Downs) is the hero, she's the one that gives Grace the sleeping pills. So, did Ester shade in the words in the book? I think she did
