Sweet, a little preachy. Artwork took a little getting used to but I found it effective, dramatic.
I didn't know about how intense the banning of books was in South Korea. This was eyeopening and I learned so much. I did enjoy the story and the artwork. While it is dealing with a harder topic and there are protests going on, there are lighter moments too, making it flow well.
This book taught me a lot about the history and situation in South Korea. I think it's really important for people to learn about these things.
Sometimes I found this book quite confusing though.
Overall, it was really interesting.
This was really great! I don't know much of anything about the history of South Korea (thanks mediocre American education!) and now I'm interested to learn more. Though dealing with serious issues like police brutality, political persecution, and censorship this manages to be inspiring and at times, funny. Suji always ready to punch a cop was played for laughs but also dead seriously. A great work for teens and adults about the power of protest and the importance of staying in it for the long haul.
