I am unable to objectively say if this is a good book or not, because it is an iconic book to me, and will always be a good book to me.
There is magic in Alice, even more in Through the Looking Glass. It is never the same tale twice. Every time I read it, I find something new, it's like the core of the story is the same, but the details change...
Trivial, nonsensical and tedious. This book left me wondering if I am too old for this kind of books. But in another hand, I still enjoy Dr. Seuss... so am I old? :) And by writing these I just realised I'm talking nonsense to myself. Who am I gonna be? Where did my old self go?
And ultimately did I start to replicate this one-dimensional Alice? đ lmao
By the way the audiobook narrated by Scarlett Johansson made this âAlice's Adventure in Absurdlandâ a bit more lively to me. Thank Johannson!
A pesar de lo mucho que me encanta la pelĂcula de Disney, debo admitir que el libro es mĂĄs rico en enseñanzas.
Review to follow... possibly. A concise analysis of how the story was brilliantly written must lead off. Further, evidence of Alice's interactions left me gleaning nuggets of life's truths in a way a seven year old might come upon them. For instance, the Cheshire Cat explaining that âwe're all mad here,â and there's nothing to be done about it, is spot on. If I have time, I'll return with a more thorough explanation of why I enjoyed this book. In the mean time, have a tea, and read this book. It will be a conversation starter for years to come.
Such a cute little story! Just an absolutely lovely adventure narrated wonderfully by Scarlett Johansson. Like it was so well done by Scarlett. I can't even. With the voices and everything just ahh... This audiobook was great.
I didn't get the chance to read this book when i was a child so i wanted to fix that by reading it now , at 23 lol :p
last week i watched Alice in wonderland 2010 and i loved it so much , that's why i wanted to give the book a shot and i'm not regretting that at all :D
This book is silly , funny , cute and real in it's own way . it lets you dive into a world of nonsense and unrealistic things and feel completely normal ,like you could run into the things in that world any day in your life .
I Just loved it , and someday in the future , my kids will be forced to read it, enjoy it and love it ! lol :p :p
Un libro que me hubiera encantado leer de niña, sin embargo lo he disfrutado muchĂsimo y me encontre varias veces riĂ©ndome en vos alta. Extraño en todos los aspectos pero realmente sabio.
Erm, is that sacrilegious? Sure, it was clever and cracked out and beautifully short. I'm just not that into literary psychedelia. Everyone is horrid in it, except for Alice's sister. Even Alice is a tad annoying. I liked the Cheshire Cat. But I like cats, so it hardly counts. But I'd never read it, and the KCMO library was giving copies away (adorable copies I might add) for the 150th anniversary of the book, so I wasâof courseâexcited. I might never have bothered otherwise. I might try âThrough the Looking Glass.' But I've just never been that into Alice.
My friend's post on how The Cure for Our Outrage Addiction Is the Gentle Whimsy of âAlice in Wonderlandâ made me want to re-read this book and it did not disappoint. Full of whimsy and fun to the last word!
Quite surreal with lots of clever language-plays. Kind of exhausted following the story through, though. Much like Alice herself being dragged around and around by her (mis)adventures.
I have a hunch that Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) was high the entire time he was writing this. And he did a good job. Everyone is bonkers and everyone is arguing, no one wants to be the least character and all of them wanted to be the Main character at least the only one everyone listens to. Amazing imagination and how all of them characters worked with each other. No one is in their actual mind, everyone is crazy!!! And I loved it! Hahahah :) âWe are all mad hereâ!!
I have been a huge fan of Alice in wonderland for about the past fourteen years. I have been finally able to sit down and read the book and it is one of the best books that I have ever read. If u really liked this book I would say watch the hallmark version of Alice in wonderland which was made in 1999. It is as close to the originally book of Alice in wonderland that I have seen to date.
Well, I guess I can now say I read it. That's really all I can say...other than noting I just don't get the appeal or how this has lasted through the years. Maybe you need to be a pre-adolescent girl to enjoy it. Or maybe I'm just a Philistine.
