I found this to be a mesmerizing book about time, connections, family and self awareness. I liked how the characters interacted and how they learn more about themselves through their interactions with others.

Smooth, relatively deep, cute, structurally engaging and zen.

Superficial, amateurish, artificial. Genuinely poor.

I didn't quite know what to expect when I read this book. It was sadder and happier than I expected. It was more personal than I expected. There were many parts of this that put right in that situation. So overall this book was more than I expected and that's a good thing.

I love the visual imagery the book offers along with Nao's innocent voice in the beginning that spirals into a series of distressing events and witnessing her dad killing himself and getting into sex work.

3.5 stars. This book is a strange, funny, fantastical journey. It's quite good, but not my favorite in terms of style or delivery.

3 ½ stars.
I really enjoyed it, right up till it finished. Cheap ending for me.
I'd still recommend it tho cos the story itself (or stories, I should say) I enjoyed – altho Nao's more so than Ruth's; at the same time, I enjoyed Ruth's eagerness to learn about Nao.

This one took me a little bit to get into. I listened to it in the car - reader is the author. she does a very nice job. I think I was about 3 hours into it before it started to really click with me. The characters are hard to like initially, but then they grow on you.
