3.5 Rounded Down.
I enjoyed that this was like a campy, action/adventure, witchy love story. The MCs were both extreme but in loveable ways.
TL;DR Review: Calladia is MY GIRL. She's angry, she takes no shit, and she defends both her friends and the helpless with the tenacity and fierceness of a rottweiler. She's been manipulated and abused and NEVER AGAIN. Oh, and she absolutely despises Astoroth. So she has some pretty big walls up...but when it's the centuries old demon who is suddenly nearly helpless...well. I liked this book way more than I expected to and much more than the first, in part because of how strongly I identify with what Calladia has been through in her life and her response to it. The banter between her and Astoroth is hilarious, the sexual tension is ridiculous, and the spicy scenes are exactly that.
4.5/5
I loved it. It was so well written and I loved the plot! While it was too insta love for me, I loved it regardless.
Calladia and Astaroth were AMAZING. Both as individuals and as a couple. I loved their relationship progress and character growth. Calladia deserves someone to love her just the way she is, and boy, was Astaroth ready to deliver. He was so gone for her since the beginning, I loved it.
Calladia's final talk to her mother was amazing too. I was waiting for that and I'm glad that she goes no-contact with her. She deserves a break from the toxicity and a chance at happiness.
HE CALLS HER WARRIOR QUEEN! How cute is it??? I love it! And he loves going down on her which is just the best quality a man (or a demon lol) can have imo. ALSO HE'S A SWIFIE HELL YES.
There were so many good quotes but I think my favourite is this:
“I'll never get enough of you,” he said against her lips. “The sun could die and the stars could fall and the earth could rip itself apart, and none of that would matter, so long as you were in my arms.”
I just finished How to woo a witch by Sarah Hawley and here are my thoughts.
Calladia isn't everyone's cup of tea with her white hot temper and smart mouth. She is no lady and takes pleasure in doing things for herself and not society, or her mother, think she should be doing.
When Calladia sees someone being attacked she cannot help but step in to help.. Only the person, or demon, she saves, happens to be a soul bargainer, the same one who tried to take her best friend's soul.
Astaroth doesn't recognize his savior. With his memory being wiped and he has no clue why he has been banished to the human realm or why Moloch, another demon, was trying to kill him. Calladia can't leave him in the streets like this but helping her mortal enemy is even a stretch for her but when Moloch blows up her house she knows she has to help Astaroth recover his memories in hopes of defeating Moloch. This book had a lot to live up to and believe me, it did! I loved Calladia from A witch's guide to fake dating a demon so when I found out this book was all about her I squealed!! Calladia is the scrappy, ride and die friend everyone should have but you can tell she was still figuring herself out after everything that happened to her. She can hold her own and I love characters that do that in books. Astaroth had the best redemption for me. Losing his memory changed who he was for the better and I could have read all about that all day long.
The whole concept of this series is finding out truths about the demon realm and I need so much more!! I'm excited to find out whos story is going to come next but I also really enjoyed seeing the little updates on Mariel.
The book has the perfect amount of spice too. I give it a 3 on the naughty pepper scale! It's done so well I could feel my temperature rising! This is definitely my new favorite series! Glimmer falls is one heck of a place to be!
5 stars. All the stars! Take them all!
