I really liked the vocabulary and overall language. It was a nice change from the usual style of a modern YA book.
I thought it was great. It had just the right amount of suspense, romance, and supernatural. This author blends them together in a perfect mixture, and out comes The Dark Divine. It is a great book, and I was blessed on finding it. Have a good read!
I really liked this book. The fact that Max died was so sad though, especially with how everyone was ignoring him the entire time before it happened. I'm not quite sure how Sebastian (ok, jonathan) thought that Isabelle was most like him. I love that Clary and Jace find out they are not siblings, that was what I was waiting for the entire time. I'm interested as to how the tv show is going to portray that as well, since they are taking things so out of order...Overall, great book, it develops the plot quite well, and if Cassandra Clare wanted, she could probably have left it there as a trilogy...but thank god she didn't! :)
Different perspectives of gothic. If you like gothic, then you should find at least a couple good stories in this book.
A complex book. The author kept switching the narrative like, every other chapter, so it was a little confusing at first, figuring out who was talking.
I loved this book a lot, i loved how the stories went so many ways but through all of it, it interconnected everything and the stories went really well together. The only reason i'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because of the horror chapter. i won't spoil any of it, i'll just say that i feel like it was waaayyy too dark and awful to belong in that book. On it's own it would be ok, but it kind of cast a dark shadow over the rest of the book for me, because i couldn't stop thinking about how the story could've ended.
It was okay but there was zero excitement or action happening at all, and that made the storyline a bit slow. The idea was a good one, though.
This is a really good fairy book with a good ending. I like Melissa Marr's books because her books so often have a slightly darker undertone, like with the fey. I feel like Seth is like the perfect guy, compared to Keenan, who often seemed just too controlling. Although I suppose that may have been because he was the King of Summer...Anyways its a good read and I recommend it to anyone who likes romance, and books about Faeries.
It was a quick read for me, it was fun and suitably creepy, but it wasn't anything special. I liked some of the characters backstories and how the author described the trauma they went through, but the personalities of the characters were pretty superficial and there's so many that we don't really get to know every single one. It reads like a horror movie, a lot of setting up the scene and characters, and then climaxing to a big finale with all the true scares finally being introduced at the end. I didn't love the ending as it left too much unsaid, and left you feeling like you have to read the sequel if you want to truly understand everything going on in this book. But still, I would recommend it if you want an entertaining scary story that's similar to a horror movie but that doesn't have too much depth to it.
I don't understand how Cassandra Clare can keep writing books like this...now that is true magic. i love all her books and this ones no exception, i didn't want it to end also that ending was so unexpected! i cant believe what happened omg
Well, it was had some interesting developments, but for the most part, I guessed everything that was going to happen. Still a good story though.
I read this book because [b:Prince of Shadows 12788124 Prince of Shadows Rachel Caine https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1371565717s/12788124.jpg 17935688] was such a good book. Glass houses was an interesting read, but didn't quite live up to my expectations. I do plan on finishing the series though. Okay, so there is this girl named Claire, who goes to college in this small town called Morganville. She's only 16, but is really book-smart. Unfortunately , she ends up angering a girl who has some important connections to the people that run the town. And then, she finds out the people who run the town are vampires . Pretty soon, she has to take refuge with three roommates in a house that is Protected against vampires . An unexpected twist at the end, this book is one that I would recommend.
4.5/5 stars
Jude is bad-ass, she knows what she wants and she'll do whatever it takes to get it. Holly Black is the best, i love all of her books about Faerie, this one included.
The story is about a young girl named Jude and her sister, who get whisked away to the land of the Fae after their parents are brutally murdered. There, although she starts out hating where she is, as the years pass she begins to adapt and wish she belonged there. But mortals can never compete with Faeries, and the Gentry of Faerie love to show that, Prince Carden especially, with the way he bullies her constantly and derides her. But with the King of Faerie soon to abdicate, court intrigue arises as to which of his heirs will take the throne, and Jude must figure out how to strengthen her position and prove she is not as powerless as everyone thinks she is.
Holly Black proved that there is such a thing as a unique “fairy” tale when she expanded on her dark world of Faerie to create a completely new story with awesome and often frightful characters. And honestly, Jude is the best. I've read so many books where the main character acts like they're strong but end up not being able to make hard decisions or do the best thing. But when Jude sees her chance, she seizes it and she is willing to do whatever it takes to get where she needs to be, even if it means bloodying her hands a little.
In the first book, we never really get a good view of Leslie. Everything is set around Aislinn, and Leslie is on the edge of the spotlight. But now, we find out her life is just as complicated as Aislinn's, though minus the faeries...until now. I've always had the desire to get a tattoo, and I like the way this book centers around them. And lets not forget Niall, with a much darker past then you might've guessed.
Leslie has a hurtful past, and she needs a change. That change, to her, means getting a tattoo, but the one that she chooses, changes more then her skin. It changes her entire life. It introduces to her the Dark Court, the side of Faerie that most mortals are better off never seeing. And for Niall, the faerie always at her best friends side(and always at her side, if only she knew), this brings up a part of his past that he had spent the last couple centuries trying to forget.
Well, all the Sirens except Gemma die. Everybody gets together and are happy. Marcy's boyfriend gets killed, but comes back as a ghost so she's happy. The end.
This book was awesome. The whole story sort of had an atmosphere around it that really brought me in, and made me feel like I was in this weird and crazy town myself. The idea itself was pretty unique, and it felt like I knew the main character, Sky, for myself. That is, until some interesting surprises near the end, where I found out she was actually hiding some things from herself. (No more on that, just read the book yourself). 4.7/5 stars, the story did get a little crazy near the end. Either way , I can't wait to read the author's other book called [b:Another Little Piece 12665819 Another Little Piece Kate Karyus Quinn https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1350988374s/12665819.jpg 17780480]. Please check this book out for yourself, you won't regret it OR forget it ; )
It was ok, the flock is apparently mutating on their own, getting some cool new abilities, even Total. There is again an evil mastermind trying desperately to capture them, and this time the story is set in the cold land of Antarctica brrrr no thanks. It was a fun read that developed the story a little bit, but it just seemed like a new bad guy was suddenly introduced and then taken care of, and its like...who was this guy? where did he come from? I think there should've been a little more character development, and as the book was short as it was, it shouldn't have been that hard. Still, if you like James Patterson's books then you'll like this one.
Ok, so basically, this book is just like the rest of the series. Alex manages to get out of every dangerous situation that the author throws at him. The interesting thing that the author does, is that continuously through the series, you find out more about Alex's background, abut his parents. in this book (SPOILER ALERT) he finds out that his godfather is the one that actually planted the bomb that killed Alex's parents.
