4.5 stars!
I really enjoyed this book, such a lovely fantasy story. The whole concept of the book, the wicked, corrupted Wood and the magic system were really interesting. I liked the plot-twists a lot, the writing style made me want to keep going and it was really enjoyable.
I loved Nieshka's personality, such a strong and determined girl, who would to anything for the things she believed in. I loved her, especially towards the end of the book.
The whole idea of the book was really interesting, but I just couldn't concentrate. Too many pages with descriptions and a lot of techinal stuff (too many random words, in my opinion). Maybe it's too smart for me, who knows
3.5 stars. This book annoyed the shit out of me, I have to say. It wasn't a bad book, but it just wasn't the type of romance book that I like. Rosie was sooo annoying in some chapters that I felt like going through my e-reader, inside the book and punching her in the face, I swear.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! It's a perfect book for the cosy Autumn season when you want to curl up in bed with a cup of coffee or anything hot and just read and read. I loved reading the stories both from the present and from the past and see how they intertwined. The characters were amazing, especially Eliza. Gonna recommend this to everyone!
“I remember you.”
The sentence that broke my heart, that made me fall in love with this book and made me realize that Addie LaRue is going to be a huge part of my life, because this book made it to my top favourite books. Like, my all time favourite books.
I just can't even describe what I'm feeling right now. I just put the book down and managed to stop crying. V.E. Schwab is incredible and she broke my heart with this book. She broke it, she pieced it back together only to break it again. And again. And again.
It took me so long to finally read this book, but I guess now was the right time for me to do it. I mean, I wouldn't have been prepared for the force of this book now matter when I read it, what can I say.
This book is a story about loss and love, about heartbreak and survival, about a girl who just wanted to be free, but found herself making a deal with the devil and being forgotten by everyone. Everyone but him.
I literally don't know what to say about this book because there are SO MANY things that I could say, but I can't even begin to write them. I just want to tell you that if you haven't read it, you really need to do it right now. LIKE RIGHT NOW . It will change your life, it will make you wonder what took you so long to pick it up, it will hit you like a storm. But it will also make you cry happy tears, make you laugh and smile, make you feel full of happiness and contempt. It's just... WOW.
And now, let me tell you my favourite quotes from the book:
What is a person, if not the marks they leave behind? But if you only walk in other people's steps, you cannot make your own way. You cannot leave a mark.
Very nice, quick and interesting read. I loved the vibes of this book, the plot twists and the characters. It was a little bit short for me to start connecting with the characters and get to know them better, but since it's part of a series, I have high hopes for the next books.
This book was not what I expected, the story was a little bit too slow for me and nothing much happened, but I loved the dynamics between the characters and the past/present timelines. The ending surprised me a lot, there was something I was definitely not expecting! Overall, this book was pretty good.
I wanted to pick this up after reading Spells for Forgetting and loving it and The Unmaking of June Farrow did not disappoint at all. It was an incredible book with shocking plot twists, amazing characters and a lot of feelings. The writing style is beautiful and it will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting to find out what really happens to the Farrow women.
The reason I'm not giving this book 5 stars is because I felt like at some point the murderer was reaaaally obvious and everything was so predictable. I did enjoy it though.
I absolutely loved Jessica's debut novel “You With a View” and I was so excited when I got approved for an eARC on Netgalley for her next book, “The Ex Vows”.
The reason I am not giving this book 5 stars is because I got fed up with all the drama surrounding Adam and Grace's wedding. Anything that could've gone wrong did go wrong and at one point it became very annoying that NOTHING was going good for them, it was just too much and I felt like it took away the nice vibes of the story and it was just frustrating.
I love Eli and Georgia's relationship though, a very well done second chance romance that I devoured. Wish we had a little bit more of them and less of the wedding drama, but I get why it had to be this way, it just wasn't my favorite thing.
I cannot even begin to explain HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK. This book made me feel so many things, but the most important thing is that Happy Place felt like coming home. Such a sweet and heartwarming feeling. I loved every part of it, it made me so emotional and I just - wow!!!! I don't even know what to say about this other than the fact that it's incredible and I will keep it close to my heart.
If you're looking for an absolutely amazing supernatural thriller, this book is the one for you. I can't believe how good this was. I RARELY read any thrillers, because I get scared so easily, so even though I enjoy them from time to time, they're not my usual cup of tea. But “Dark and Shallow Lies” has exceeded any expectations that I had.
This book is a masterpiece. I couldn't believe the things that were happening, I definitely did not expect the book to go the way it did and all I have to say is: WOW. I need more books like this one.
OK, WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN? If I could give this book 1000 stars, I would give it. It deserves all the stars in the world. What a beautiful, amazing debut for Ali Hazelwood. She is going to be a great author, I'm sure of that. I mean, she already is. And I've made it my personal mission to make everyone read this book, because it's so good. I can't stop thinking about it. I finished it last night at 1 AM and I went to sleep thinking about it and I woke up thinking about it. That's when I know it's an amazing book.
If you're a fan of the fake dating trope, you're going to fall in love with this book. I'm not a huge fan, but this book made me love it. The dynamic between the characters is pure perfection, the friendships and the relationships are so good. The main character, Olive, is such an amazing and strong woman, she overcomes so many of her fears throughout the book and I found her to be very inspiring and a very good motivation. As a woman in STEM myself, I felt for her in so many ways. And oh, don't get me started on Adam Carlsen. The broody, mysterious professor who makes his students cry, who is such an intriguing figure... and who happens to become Olive's fake-boyfriend. I love him so much, I CAN'T EXPLAIN. His character spoke to my heart, the tenderness underneath that tough facade was something that managed to melt my heart.
Olive and Adam are made for each other and I was so happy to see their fake relationship become a friendship and then evolve into something beautiful.
Also, this book is going to break your heart, I WARNED YOU! It's going to break it into a million pieces and then put it back together in such a beautiful way, you'll forget you had it broken in the first place.
What more can I say? If I haven't already convinced you to read this book, JUST...WHY? You have to give it a chance, it's A-MA-ZING!
I really enjoyed this book, I feel like it's perfect for the spooky Halloween season, thanks to all of the witchy vibes. Set in Thistle Grove, a town governated by witches, this book follows the story of Emmy Harlow and her old and new friends. If you like the competition trope in your reads, you're going to enjoy this one! Oh, and it's also an LGBTQ+ book - with a great relationship between ouyr main character, Emmy, and the gorgeous Talia Avramov.
Overall, the book was really enjoyable and I recommend it to everyone who likes witchy books.
People forget how important it is to be with someone who makes them laugh.
What a cute read! After I read “The Love Hypthesis” by Ali Hazelwood and I started following her on Instagram, I saw her raving about “The Shaadi Set-Up”, so I knew I had to pick it up as well. I don't regret it at all, it turned out to be such a beautiful book.
I loved Rita and Milan's dynamic, they were so cute together. Their inside jokes were awesome and the fact that even after six years of being apart it felt like they were always there for each other really emphasized how strong their bond was. They found each other after such a long time and in some ways it was like they never left their happy place. They're adults now though, it's not a highschool or college relationship anymore, so adult problems get in the way.
And uh, can we talk about Rita's boyfriend, Neil? HE WAS SO ANNOYING. I wanted to smack him every single time he let his mother dictate his life and every single time he ignored Rita's wishes just because his mother wanted something or his mother said this or that. Ugh, I really wanted to smack him.
AND IF YOU'RE NOT CONVINCED TO READ THIS, THERE ARE NOT ONE, BUT TWO!!!! DOGS IN THIS BOOK. The beautiful babies Rita has, Henrie and Freddie. You will absolutely love them, trust me!
“Find the light that makes your lantern shine. Hold on to it, even when the dark surrounds you. Not even the strongest wind will blow out the flame.”
W. O. W. WOW. This book was so beautiful. I have been waiting for so long to read it and it was one of my most expected reads from 2021. It did not disappoint and it certainly lived up to the hype around it. Also, I'm glad I read Spin the Dawn and Unravel the Dusk before reading this book, because I already felt like I knew this world and the legends, I knew so many things that might be confusing for others. So I recommend reading The Blood of Stars duology first, even though it's not necessary in order to understand Six Crimson Cranes, but it's just nice to know some things. And if you already read Spin the Dawn, the ending of this book will hit you like a speeding truck. It's amazing and totally unexpected!
This is a story about the power of family bonds, about prejudice, about overcoming your fears and survival. It follows Princess Shiori and her six brothers that are turned into six cranes, cursed by their stepmother. Shiori isn't allowed to utter a word, or for every sound that she makes, one of her brothers will die. Separated, they try to find their way back to each other. Unable to speak, it's hard for Shiori to find her brothers. The six brothers only turn into cranes at dawn, so they spend each night in their human forms. Day and night, all they want to do is find their lost sister.
It's a very heart-warming book that made me both happy and sad and I gotta say: Elizabeth's writing style is so beautiful and lyrical and it makes you feel like you're part of a fairytale. This was even better than Spin the Dawn and I LOVED that one so much!
I really enjoyed this book, even though I found it a little bit hard to read at some points. The chapters are way too long and the plot felt dragged and so slow sometimes that it was getting boring, but it picked up near the end and it got better.
And, of course, we have that brutal cliffhanger, just like the first book had. This one was even worse though and I'm so curious to see what happens in the next book.
This was a really interesting book, but check the trigger warnings (there's animal abuse, domestic violence, death, violence, blood etc.).
Excuse me, but... WHAT IS THIS? WHAT IS WITH THAT CLIFF-HANGER AT THE END? That killed me. I've heard people talk about the ending of this book and how it was really UGH but that left me with so many questions and I'm trying to figure out some possible situations, but I just can't.
This book is really awesome, the idea is truly unique and I enjoyed it a lot. The Scholomance is a school for people gifted with magic, but it's not an usual school. It wants to kill its students, there are threats to their lives at every step and the monsters that lurk in the hallways are no joke. Everyone knows that they must do anything in order to survive, and that's exactly what our main character, Galadriel El, is trying to do.
This book is her journey through her sophomore year and how she tries not to give in to her really strong magic, a magic so powerful that could make her graduation easy, but she might kill the other students and that's not something El wants. She's a good person and she doesn't use magic in a bad way, she doesn't hurt other beings (besides the monsters), but the problem is that all her powerful spells include mass-destruction.
I had fun reading about El and all the awesome (and creepy) things happening at the Scholomance. Her bedroom and the black wall (the void) that's inside every students' bedroom. Her making friends with people who used to avoid her. Slowly falling in love with a guy she despised at first. How she tried to save the world.
And back to that ending, I cannot wait to read the next book and see what that was about!
First I want to thank PRH International for giving me the chance to read this beautiful book in advance, I am so thankful for the opportunity!
I really enjoyed this book and you're going to love it as well if you like stories about mermaids, vengeful gods, quests and strong, beautiful characters! Reading this book felt like going on the journey with Simi the mermaid and Kola, the boy she saved from drowning.
I laughed and I cried while reading this book, it definitely made me feel a lot of things and that's how I know it was a good book.
