“I remember you.”
The sentence that broke my heart, that made me fall in love with this book and made me realize that Addie LaRue is going to be a huge part of my life, because this book made it to my top favourite books. Like, my all time favourite books.
I just can't even describe what I'm feeling right now. I just put the book down and managed to stop crying. V.E. Schwab is incredible and she broke my heart with this book. She broke it, she pieced it back together only to break it again. And again. And again.
It took me so long to finally read this book, but I guess now was the right time for me to do it. I mean, I wouldn't have been prepared for the force of this book now matter when I read it, what can I say.
This book is a story about loss and love, about heartbreak and survival, about a girl who just wanted to be free, but found herself making a deal with the devil and being forgotten by everyone. Everyone but him.
I literally don't know what to say about this book because there are SO MANY things that I could say, but I can't even begin to write them. I just want to tell you that if you haven't read it, you really need to do it right now. LIKE RIGHT NOW . It will change your life, it will make you wonder what took you so long to pick it up, it will hit you like a storm. But it will also make you cry happy tears, make you laugh and smile, make you feel full of happiness and contempt. It's just... WOW.
And now, let me tell you my favourite quotes from the book:
What is a person, if not the marks they leave behind? But if you only walk in other people's steps, you cannot make your own way. You cannot leave a mark.
