I forgot to mark this book as read during August/September and just realised while filling in my book journal
Jesus Christ! This was scary in a way I never expected it to be. But we met so many gentle and good people, and the geese.
Old people in love, my beloved! Give me more stories with people in their fifties being in love. It was such a breath of fresh air. Hester was my favourite in the book. The butler gets honorary mention for being there when needed most. Man did not bat an eye at the weirdest requests.
Not the traumatic horse story in the acknowledgements
Murder mystery
Good short story. Love when authors can write a fully formed, tangible, emotional story in the span of a few pages.
Good
Wait this was good. Confusing but in a good way. But feels incomplete so a full length novel would be fun.
Finally done! This was sooo goooood. Surprised at all the bad reviews I keep seeing. The ending blew my mind.
This was pretty darn good. I don't know what is up with the bad reviews I keep seeing for this book. It had way more heart, intrigue and feelings than that stupid five broken blades book that everyone keeps waxing poetics about but is just filled with horny teenagers. Anyway, not to get sidetracked, Luiza was such a bad ass. Loved how everyone once in a while, the callused hands were brought up and played a role in the story.
I also saw someone describe Santangel as an old man and just
Bought this completely on a whim - the cover was pretty and it was cheap for a hardcover. Best decision ever!
The story was sooo eerie. Effy was such a contradictory narrator that you couldn't tell if she was fulfilling the role of an unreliable narrator or not. I was questioning my sanity with her lol. 5 stars to Preston for not being an asshole and for being a softy.
The writing was amazing! The story inside the story was amazing. The little epigraph snippets from the in-book authors were amazing. I marked so many quotes I loved.
Going back to read the previous two works by the author.
Trippy
Good collection of short stories. This one from the POV of a sentient ship (named Asha, way to go!!!) carrying humanity to a distant as of yet unfound planet. This one made me think back when teenage me used to ask the age old question of what becomes of us when our sun dies? I liked this are a LOT! The ending though oooohhh!
Another good one.
Okay this whole series is a giant brain fuck. Making you question your existence and purpose. Good job on the existential crisis, guys.
I really enjoyed this book (two books). Hadrian and Royce make a great duo! I thought this book had easy to pronounce names for a fantasy what with all the Royce and Hadrian and Ezra, and then they went and named book two ‘Avempartha'.
Book one:
- Initially a bit slow.
- Loved when Myron (the monk) showed up and Royce, Hadrian and Ulrich all start telling him stuff because he has never left the Abbey, and had never seen horses, or women
OMFG
Jesus Christ! Trigger warnings for the ending, and the middle and what kind of fucked up story was that. It was engrossing but I did not see the ending coming.
Very intriguing!
Liked this a lot! I love robot centric sci-fi. The harvesters reminded me of the celestials. Hope I can find the next volumes. The art was coloured with water colours! Loved that!
We didn't get to watch much Sanctuary Moon in this. More action, trouble and feelings (of friendship) for the Murderbot.
This is the best book in the series so far! Murderbot just keeps having one breakdown after another, emotionally and physically.
Spoilers
Favorite scenes:
- Ameena and SecUnit bickering!
- Hiding in the toilet because you're having an emotional response.
- SecUnit realising ART has been deleted.
- SecUnit and ART bickering over and over till they decide to rescue ART's crew.
- SecUnit intentionally playing Worldhoppers knowing that it's ART's favorite show and that'll lure them both into a conversation.
- Ameena saying that writing a code together is like having a baby
Another solid and entertaining volume! I loved Brief Lives so much. Delirium was so much fun. The last chapter hit me like a slap in the face
Enjoyed this a lot. The art was stunning. The stories were good.
It filled in some of the gaps from the trilogy like where the Alice in Wonderland book came from, what happened with Nicasia. The present day story was nice. Cardan's POV was a lot different than I expected.
The different versions of the boy with the wicked tongue and the artwork in the margins complementing the stories was my favourite
This book was amazing (once again). I love this series!!!
I don't know why but I keep imagining the Gilarabryn as Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon
4 stars because I felt like it was missing pages at the end. It was good enough that I read it non-stop and finished it in record time. The characters were likable and the writing was very good.
But I very strongly wanted some more closure at the end. Half of the things didn't even get resolved. I'd love to read a sequel for this!
Audiobook was amazing. The story itself had less to no fanatsy elements and was more of a character development story for the prince. The ending was nicely done with the revelations.
