A book hasn't made me cry since I read A Walk to Remember when I was a teenager, until I read this book. I laughed, I cried, and Just like The Matchmaker planned, I fell in love. I was so close to DNF-one this book (which is why it has 4 stars and not 5) but I am so glad I didn't. THIS is what I want in a dark romance. The characters didn't just fall in love, they WORKED for it. And they deserved that HEA.
Elizabeth never fails to deliver.
The banter, the tension, the character development, we have it ALL. I was up until 3am (THREE FREAKING AM) because I could not put this down. This book is so good that I was highlighting paragraphs not just a few quotes here and there.
I didn't think I could love another couple as much as I love Tali & Hayes, but here I am confessing that Lina & Josh have stolen my heart.
Did I go into this blind because of the gorgeous cover? Absolutely
Did it turn out to be one of my favorite reads so far this year? Also yes
There's no shortage of Beauty and The Beast retellings but this has to be one of my favorites. Royals, Fae, strong females, forbidden love, curses, and betrayal. It is a little predictable but the story, characters, and twists are all so good I was fine with the predictability.
I have NEVER had a debut novel grab me and refuse to let go like this one did. This is the best fantasy romance I have read in a long time. It has everything; beautiful world building, fated mates, hidden identities, STRONG female MC, comic relief, character development, and spice.
I was hooked from the very first chapter. Lilian draws you into the world and characters lives. She kept me on my toes through the entire book and it was beautiful!
This book was so good. I love a slow burn that is actually well executed. Wren is the strong female character that I adore. We see her love for her family and how she struggles with finding herself and it's beautiful. 4 star read for me because it did seem to drag at times. It does give HadesxPersephone vibes but not in the GrumpyxSunshine way. Boreas and Wren are both strong, protective, and set in their ways. Think A Touch of Darkness with more plot but less spice.
Overcoming the negative voices of her past is difficult and Darcy struggles to accept that she is worthy of the attention that Atlas is giving her. But Atlas knows what he wants and he's determined to show Darcy that he's here there stay.
There's no shortage of tattoo parlor romances but this one is so cute! It's a great quick read if you're in the mood for a sweet romance with a hint of spice
I did not think I was going to love this book. I honestly thought that I was just going to push through and read it so I could get to the next book in the series. But once again Sophie Lark has me in an absolute chokehold. She really put two of my least favorite tropes together and said, you're not just gonna like it but it's gonna be your favorite book in the series.
above and beyond
I added this book to my TBR as a palate cleanser for in between my fantasy reads or dark romances. I did not expect to start reading and go absolutely feral for this dirty talking, cinnamon roll of a man-brick.
I love the way Cal and Stella fit so perfectly and effortlessly together. They slip, stumble, and fall into each other in a very realistic and believable way that a lot of romance novels lack.
Delicious read

I'm Absolutely obsessed with the I hate everyone but you trope and Sophie absolutely nails is with the bad boy exterior, cinnamon roll interior that is Miko when it comes to Nessa.
I am never let down when I read a Sophie Lark book. The tension between Miko and Nessa, how they bring out each other's strengths, and the proposal and their wedding vows could melt the coldest heart.
It's a 10/10!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am already in love with the whole Birds Eye family and this is just the first book! This has been the perfect sick day read; low angst, spice, beautiful character development, what more could you want!? I adored the relationship between Hawk and Drew but the connection that Hawk has with Ava absolutely stole the show for me. I can't wait to read the rest of the series
As a twin, I too would go absolutely feral if someone murdered my sister.
I've gone back and forth with myself about of this was a 3 or 4 star read for me. I don't have an algorithm for ranking books, like garlic I measure that shit with my heart. So I settled on a 3 1/2 rating (rounded up to 4 for Amazon and GR).
Everyone has a lot of secrets and we don't get many answers. The characters are beautiful but we don't see much development. I did enjoy the world building and look forward to seeing how that continues to grow in the second book. Overall it's a good read and and introduction to the series.

If you're a fantasy reader looking for a way to get into dark romance this is the book! While Scarred is NOT a fantasy it holds enough similarities that fantasy readers like myself love. Breaking the norm with having both the MC and FMC as morally grey anti-heros/villains with their own agendas was amazing. An absolutely delicious read.
this book WRECKED me.
The spice is top notch, the writing is amazing, but it's the fact that I have never felt more seen or represented as a plus size girl that really put this over the top for me. Every worry and emotion that Ariana has about herself and her relationship is something I have had myself.
For a paranormal romance it hits real close to home.
