Pros:
The Unbroken by C.L. Clark
“Trans or cis, we are all on gender journeys and all gender journeys are valid.“
This was a fast and fun read while also being extremely informative! I love that they chose to do this in the format of a graphic novel as it made it extremely accessible and and the way the the information is presented makes it easy to digest. This is a great intro to gender and the constructs surrounding it and I love that the sources have all been cited so we can use those recourses to continue researching!
I highly recommend to anyone who is trying to understand their own gender identity, if your trying to understand gender in general, or if you're struggling with the concept of gender.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for providing this ARC
I have trouble with 1st person pov and it feeling super cringe a lot of times. This also felt super slow paced to me. I made it 44% and basically nothing had happened
comfy, cozy, smutty, and so much rep! I would read 100k words of Trevor, Dancer, and Candy
We're there some things in the writing I didn't love? Yes but I didn't dislike it either. This was still a 5 star read for me.
Eros is everything I want in an anti hero. We love a Grumpy Boi. He is stuck in the fact that he doesn't deserve someone as good as Psyche and due to his family/childhood trauma he doesn't really understand what's going on with himself.
Psyche is the character all us fat girls can relate to and look up to. She teaches herself how to ignore the whispers (and shouts) about her body image and turns it into a positive platform to inspire others.
This story is everything. Marriage of convenience, sort of enemies to lovers, plus size representation, there trauma and drama, and everything in between. I'm absolutely in love with this series.
I was not obsessed with this. Don't get me wrong, it's good! But I didn't absolutely love it.
I loved the tension and banter but otherwise this book fell flat for me. While it was still a good read, it was very basic.
Ethan was so so back and forth and had so many secrets. It seemed like every time Olive tried to talk to him about something important it was like talking to a brick wall. He wouldn't see the truth even if it slapped him in the face and claimed to love Olive but would just shrug off her concerns.
There was a good amount of character development for Olive which I really enjoyed.
Overall this book did not live up to the hype and I am very sad about that.
The fact that I am giving this book 5 stars even though it is in my least favorite pov (first person with fourth wall breaks) is not something i expected when i started it. To be honest i almost immediately put it down with no intention to pick it back up just because i dislike fourth wall breaks that much. But im so glad that i decided to push through my personal issues and continue reading because i absolutely fell in love with this book.
Leo is cocky and sunshine personified and turns that up to 100 to run away from his trauma.
Grimm is a storm cloud hiding a soft heart and trauma of his own.
And together they're a hot mess. And I adore them.
Sorcery and Small Magics is engaging and whitty and whimsical but also deals with a lot of internal conflict and tension the main characters have. I found it to be balanced nicely and never hit a lull in my reading journey which is phenomenal for a debut.
I'm thrilled that I was gifted an early copy from NetGalley but I'm devastated that I'll have to wait for the second book!
I absolutely adored this. I wish we could have had more of D'Vaughn and Kris learning about and getting to know each other but overall it was an absolutely amazing read and I rate based on emotion so it was a 5 star for me
As a twin, I too would go absolutely feral if someone murdered my sister.
I've gone back and forth with myself about of this was a 3 or 4 star read for me. I don't have an algorithm for ranking books, like garlic I measure that shit with my heart. So I settled on a 3 1/2 rating (rounded up to 4 for Amazon and GR).
Everyone has a lot of secrets and we don't get many answers. The characters are beautiful but we don't see much development. I did enjoy the world building and look forward to seeing how that continues to grow in the second book. Overall it's a good read and and introduction to the series.
I don't know what it is about Sophie but she takes my least favorite tropes and turns them into stories I love. Dom has taken over as my favorite so far in the underworld series
I have never felt more connected to a character than I did with Chloe Brown.
Chloe is plus size and has a non-visible chronic illness which comes with chronic pain. After a near death experience, she decides that she is no longer going to live in fear and coddle herself due to her illness
What I really loved was her internal monologue about dating as someone with chronic pain. The constant fear of being rejected by family, friends or lovers because you're not able to do the the same way or live up to social standards of what is expected in any form of a relationship.
Seeing the relationship between Chloe and Red develop and watching them help one another grow was absolutely amazing.
This is a must read, 10/10
Did I go into this blind because of the gorgeous cover? Absolutely
Did it turn out to be one of my favorite reads so far this year? Also yes
There's no shortage of Beauty and The Beast retellings but this has to be one of my favorites. Royals, Fae, strong females, forbidden love, curses, and betrayal. It is a little predictable but the story, characters, and twists are all so good I was fine with the predictability.
If you want a good contemporary romance
, this is the one. It's fun, it's flirty, it's got character growth, and a sprinkling of spice.

I did not think I was going to love this book. I honestly thought that I was just going to push through and read it so I could get to the next book in the series. But once again Sophie Lark has me in an absolute chokehold. She really put two of my least favorite tropes together and said, you're not just gonna like it but it's gonna be your favorite book in the series.
