When I requested this book, the premise was interesting. When I started reading it, I just really wanted this book to end. There was so much tedius dialogue that I skipped over. The endless pages of the fingerprinting details were also skipped over. We knew who the killer was almost at the beginning and since there was no twist, nothing to surprise you, it stopped being interesting. The dialogue between the main character and the killer was boring. I kept reading thinking maybe there would that twist, but in the end, I was just happy the book was done.
I received an ARC from Netgalley.
I'll start by saying I've read other books by Ms Lippman that I enjoyed a lot more. I wanted to like Mrs Blossom more, but was totally annoyed by the endless musings that I was skipping pages just to get thru them. I kept waiting for her to be taken advantage of, esp when she's supposed to be smart, but taking gummies from random strangers. I enoyed the descriptions and scenes of France much more than the interaction of the characters. Over all, this was just an ok read. Quick and easy, if you sped thru the dry spots.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
An entertaining horror novel that read well, although it bogged down in the middle part, before finishing up pretty well.

I enjoy historical fiction and this was a good one! Strong female character doing as best as she can despite the limits placed on women in this time frame. I enjoyed the characters and the story and look forward to the next book in the seriers.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another enjoyable victorian mystery, the 2nd in the series. Engaging mystery and I didn't guess the killer at all. I hope to see more books in the series.

I really enjoyed this book! I had to keep reminding myself that these were high school kids. Easy to read with a nice twist at the end. I'll look for more from this author.

This was an easy to read and entertaining cozy mystery. I enjoyed the characters. I've only read 1 other book in the series, but still found the characters and the story line easy to follow. I'll be going back to read the others.
Thanks for the ARC Netgalley!
I love historical mysteries - the details of life in this time frame are fascinating.
This book was slow to start and then picked up steam. I really enjoyed the interaction between the 5 female mystery authors who came together to solve the mystery.

This book was just ok, very slow in the middle and I found myself skimming a lot of the podcast dialogue as I found it very uninteresting when you already knew most of the details. The end picked up a bit, but was still just so so.

It really took a bit for this book to get moving. I started it and put it down and read several others before finally coming back to this one. By the middle of the book the story had picked up some but got confusing when a 2nd and eventually intertwined story line appeared. I'd have to say this one was just ok.
I received this book thru the first reads giveaways on Goodreads.com. I enjoyed the book and it was a good read. very much enjoyed it. thanks first reads!

I really enjoyed this glimpse into another time. The story was well written and I enjoyed the characters. Another book that I didn't realize was part of a series. I will be looking forward to the next one.

The story got off to a slow start and then just took off! The bits of history and flashbacks were very interesting to read. The ending thru me though. it just ended. there should have been more?
Very shades of Dan Brown, but well written.
This book had a slow start and I almost put it down and didn't finish. It did get better and was an enjoyable read.

The story started slow, with so much history and background being detailed, that I almost put it down. I pushed thru and found a decent storyline, although I expected much better from these authors. Everything came together at the end - for the most part anyway. Seems like there should be a sequel.
double twist! I forgot the title and that would have clued me in! slow to start and then really sucks you in.

Loved this cozy mystery! Finally one with enjoyable characters and a fun storyline. I haven't read the first book in the series, so I'll have to pick that one up. I'll be on the lookout for the next books in this series!

I could not put this book down. It was so dark and twisted. The eerie flashbacks that the murdered girl witnesses of her mothers life are very pointed and sad. The main character very much interested me with her gardening work and work with her horses. I liked that she used the horses to break thru to the girls.
Towards the end, I was having suspicions of who the murderer was and I was right. But the plot is a thrill ride that will make you not want to put this book down!
took a long time to get moving. the last quarter of the book was the best part with all the action.

Another great book in the series. Loved how all the history and facts finally came to light and tied in with current events.

Was not as good as the previous books in the series. Took forever to get the action started.
