Sickening. Couldn't put it down. The world is full of Davids, forgettable men put down by "the system" who think they're entitled to what they're owed. Don't be a David.
Its always scary when one of your fav trilogies gets a new book 10 years later ... Of course I expected ending with more questions than answers! Overall it was fun to add a bit more context to this universe. Looking forward to the next one Jeff has planned!
I think this dragged on way longer than it should have. I picked it up looking for a sci-fi and got bait and switched into a romance.
Definitely over hyped by people saying it's scarily accurate to today's society. What is accurate is the capitalist ideology he definitely hit the nail on the head with that one.
Good idea, horribly executed.
I really wish the writing was better because I see the vision but even for such a short book, I wouldn't waste your time.
I was generous with my 3rd star because it's my fault for not realizing this was the end of a trilogy even if they're also “stand alone books”
I hated the pandering wokeness, the story wasn't nearly focused enough on the horror aspect for my taste
A fun period murder mystery with queer characters! Much like the fictional play in the book, discerning audience members will be able to spot the plot twist coming though
I honestly don't even know why I bothered listening/reading this. I didn't care about any of the characters, hated the “bury your gays”, and overall hated how horny everyone was for no reason. Could have been much better, also could have been much worse hence the 2 stars
I'm so glad I waited for the audiobook!!!! Amazing production the story was great, very eerie, and you don't know who's telling the truth ever!!
Took me forever to get through this cause I was so busy.... Still mulling over my rating though.
I've settled on a 3.5 rounded up. I did enjoy the writing a lot but having the most unreliable narrator “recount” a story 40 years later did leave some things underdeveloped while we got almost too much information about his teenaged sex life.
Overall I think I would still recommend the book so that's why I rounded up not done. #justiceforrobbert
Maybe I'm just a misandrist but I hate reading from the POV of a creepy man. The twist ending was good, but there were a lot of things left unexplained. A decent read nonetheless, just not my preference
Really enjoyed! It was so hard to tell what was real and what wasn't, I had to double-check I was reading fiction! Macabre and scary, I feel like I was probably Tumblr mutuals with Violet
Call your mom.
A whodunit mystery on a one way space trip spliced with flashbacks of our mcs experience as an Asian American "hafu" and her relationships on earth.
Sapphic body horror that explores the beauty industry, music, and what it's like being Asian American. Would recommend!
3.5 rounded up. The first half of the book I was more annoyed than interested but I did really like the twist and the ending. Don't think I'll read any of the other books in the series tbh
Love jewish lesbians dealing with generational trauma and substance abuse
But I was unsatisfied with the ending tbh
