Slight Spoilers Ahead!
(No name dropping)
OKAY LISTEN- I JUST LOVEE STORIES THAT ARE MYSTERIOUS AND STORIES WHERE I CAN GUESS WHO THE SERIAL KILLER IS. Obv this isn't like The Naturals, it's a thriller for a reason.
When it first started, it was nice to see the killer have an MO, and it was quite scary seeing the faces crossed off whenever one girl was killed. I had a lot of suspicions, AND THIS BOOK FRIGHTENED ME BTW, remind me not to read books at 3am when the scene is in the woods? RIP ME-
The last few chapters was what got me. First I suspected one person, then it changed like 3 TIMES?!!! ALICE FEENEY YOU HAVE A WAY OF GIVING ME TRUST ISSUES. I PROMISE IN THE NEXT BOOK OF YOURS, I WILL BE MORE CAUTIOUS.
This book kept me curious all the way till the end. This is one of the few books of Lisa Jewell that I'd suggest.
This book is messed up. It's not as good as The Night She Disappeared but imo, I think it depends on the person. Lisa Jewell writes her books as past and present and connects it along the way to the end. It worked out well for some of her books and didn't for others. This book kept me curious from the beginning till the end. It shows us how messed up a family can get and I loved it.
If I didn't finish this book, it would've been rated much lesser. From the start it was boring actually, as it went on I expected huge plot twists that never came, but that's the thing about authors who write thrillers, they have their way of stunning us. So I expected this book to be the same as Rock Paper Scissors. I also expected it to be written like a Frieda McFadden book. STUPID ME!! This book is unique in its own way. Honestly, the best part is the ending. Leaves you in shock for a while. I had to sit down and think for a while about that plot twist. I LOVE THIS BOOK WITH MY HEART. However, it's less likely that I'd recommend it to my friends as they love books that are fast-paced
UGHH I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK!!! Is it safe to say it's better than the inheritance games series?
I read this 3 years ago and had a huge obsession over it. Glad I came to my senses now.
No. Just no. It was good at first, but it slowed down at the point they attended the wedding.
This book is just based on cheating and secret affairs between the siblings. For one of the siblings to suicide and the reason being revealed at the END of the book should've been something that would've made me scream in my bed at 3am, but it was quite a disappointment. I expected more of this book when reading it. I was really curious about many parts of the story as it had unfold. This wasn't bad but not good either :/
Okay so the plot didn't surprise me at all? Maybe coz I prefer a thriller genre- BUT the romance in this book actually got me GUSHING IN MY BEDSHEETS ALL LONELY- and having an appearance of the ugly love characters was quite wholesome. The sad parts of this story left be sad, but I'm sure if you were to try this book, you'd love it as a first read. AND “fucking pretty” AHHHHH
I was so excited to read this book when I bought the whole series. It actually gets better as you read the rest of the books, it's a good introduction. I hate love triangles tho, why does Jennifer Lynn Barnes always include love triangles in her books
4.5/5 stars
Spoilers ahead!!
Frieda Mcfadden IS JUST AMAZING- This book is one of her most fast-paced and gripping reads yet!! Compared to many thrillers I've read, this book kept me hooked from start to finish. The pacing was PERFECT- Not a single chapter was wasted.
Out of all of Frieda's books which I've read- this had climbed its way into my top three! Possibly even the best after Never Lie!! And I've read many of her books, so I'm just SO AMAZED AT HOW WELL SHE PLAYED THIS STORY.
I really expected Randy to be revealed as slug or even Tom to be the serial killer- BUT GRETCHEN BEING DAISY?? GODDAMN IT THIS AUTHOR IS AMAZING. I had to stop reading and breathe a little to process that twist!!
Frieda Mcfadden's writing is nothing short of amazing. From the way she builds the tension and to how she ties the past and present together is a masterclass in psychology thrillers!! This book is one that I'll highly recommend :))
I really enjoyed this book. It's lighthearted reading. Academic Rivals to Lovers has always been my favorite romance trope and I used to search for books with just that. Ann Liang wrote, delivered and ATE. I'm crazy down for the rest of her books because I JUST KNOW IT'LL BE AMAZING. Sadie and Julius ARE THE BEST BEST BESTTTT AHHH
Frieda Mcfadden is my favourite author for thrillers. So it breaks my heart to say that this book was just not it for me :( It had a good plot twist in the end, but the way it played out wasn't the best
I've read a ton of Lisa Jewell books and I'd say that “Then She Was Gone” is still at the top of my list when it comes to her books in specific. The plot twist of this book being the third wife having an affair with one of the children was okay...but I had expected a better plot. When coming to find out who the killer was, why was it all so simple? that she died in the hands of the daughter? and the reason due to the fact that her dad left her mum for another woman and made a family? it was a bit too predictable I'd say. I kept reading this book expecting for an ending that could shock me, but I never got that.
I'm not a big fan of smut, but this book had a good love story and a good plot. 10 times better than The Striker
