I was hoping for a book on leadership, but I feel like my biggest takeaway was a better understanding of the history of the American economy.
I was hoping for a more narrative style. I had a hard time staying interested due to the writing style.
??i just could not get into the writing style. would have stopped early on if i wasn't so personally interested in Hedy.??
If you are a Kingsbury fan you will likely enjoy this book. Working at a library I see her titles checked out quite often so when we purchased this one I decided it was time to give it a try.
The story is heartwarming, albeit predictable. It felt more like a movie synopsis when reading it, to me. I also had a difficult time connecting to two of the main characters. However, for a quick holiday read it was not bad.
A solid 2.5 for me. I loved the story and couldn't put it down, but sometimes it felt like the author got in the way of her character's own voices.
The routine sounds great, but I'd have much rather read an article than a whole book. I found myself skimming a lot to get to the actual points. Not a bad read.
if you're looking for a predictable, happy, thoughtless beach read this may be right up your alley. i really wanted to like this book, but the whole thing felt hokey and i never gained any sense of emotion for the characters, not even a mild dislike of the ‘bad' guys. it was super cutesy and read like a bad tv movie.
DNF- I just couldn't get myself to finish this. I think I was hoping for more introspection and a feeling of growth.
some really beautiful thoughts and excellent points to sit with. nothing too earth-shattering though...
Another book that I tried, but was unable to finish. I'm not sure if this was a case of wrong book, wrong time, or the book itself. I may revisit in the future.
Of all the fibro books I've browsed, this one surprised me by feeling the most packed with real information, options, suggestions, and truth. By the time I was done reading it was full of post-it tags of information to share with my loved ones on their fibro journeys. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this little book, and it blew me away.
beautiful pictures and some great tips on making things practical for you and how you live.
I highly recommend taking the time to read this set of books. Johnson's character building and historical research really shine throughout the entire series. I usually struggle more in connecting to male characters, but Will Anderson pulled me in from the very beginning. If you're a fan of mystery, historical fiction, or Michigan fiction this entire series is a must read.
I received my copy from a goodreads giveaway.
I gave up half-way through after struggling through it for weeks. I just felt like I wasn't gaining many new or helpful nuggets of information.
This book seems like an excellent guide for beginners. The information was quite basic and there are a fair amount of grammatical errors. The assistance of an experienced editor probably would have let me push this book's rating to 3 stars. I do not feel like I learned a great deal, but there were some nice tips and steps for getting started in communicating with your Spirit Guide or spirits in general.
