Filled with awe! This book is simply adorable! I am a sucker for a friends-to-lovers romance and this one even though it's filled with moments of misunderstanding, these ladies are super mature, a fact I noted and appreciated.
Thanks, Netgalley and Underlined for an advanced copy of I Think I Love You, I do hope you'll check it out, especially if you fall into the LGBTQ+ family or if you're questioning your ability to fall in love, or coming out to your parents. Lovely read.
Thank you Netgalley for this copy of Drowning King by Jennifer McMahon.
This is only the second book Ive read from Jennifer McMahon, but I can say with certainty that:
1. Her writing gets better.
2. The plots get creepier.
The Drowning Kind was emersive not only do you become part of the family in present time, but you also have a sense of time shifting when she reaches you into the past. Not only will this book give you chills, but it will leave you with a sense of foreboding long after youve read the last page.
This book is 100% quotable. It's lovely and touching and full of good feelings. Reading this felt like speaking to God, it gave me insight into daily prayer and it gave me something I really needed, that feeling of openness and honesty when speaking with God. It showed me that just having that open form of communication with God was in itself a prayer.
Thanks, Netgalley and Convergent Books for the ARC of A Rhythm of Prayer, it was a real pleasure to read and I will be looking for other books written by the contributors therein.
I love sci-fi based in reality.
I love the premise of this story, and would be thrilled to read an updated variation. That being said this story was very much a product of its time. Written in 1971, the science, characteristics and atmosphere of that time are very prevalent. It was also a very propelling read, the further the story got, the more urgent the writing. It was exciting, toward the end difficult to put down.
I love amanda lovelace's take on poetry and this book was no exception. She excels at telling a story, word by word, she breaks you down and builds you up, and honestly who doesn't need that. When it comes to ‘shine your icy crown' this book is no exception, much like her poetry book ‘break your glass slippers' where she used a ‘fairy godmother', there is a voice that is constantly reminding you of your worth. I wish I could pocket it and take that voice with me.
To say that I have been enlightened by this book is an understatement. Ms. Tovar is like the angel/devil on my shoulder giving me, nay granting me access to a world I never knew existed. This is a book just for ‘fat girls' this a book for women, but if you've ever struggled with defending yourself from terms like; inferiority, food shame, diet culture, fat phobia, sexism, gaslighting, or size based bigotry, than this could be good for you.
