Cute little story reminiscent of Love Actually in many ways. The writing style was a bit amateurish and their were plenty of errors to overlook, but overall worth the time I and money I put in.
Feminist stitches is a must-have for lady stitchers, beginner or advanced cross-stitchers will appreciate this kit. Not only does it come with the supplies to do two of the projects, but it also has ten additional patterns! All of them are fun and colorful, one of my favorites was on that said “Not Your Babe.” with a border that repeats NOPE, BYE. I love it. I quite literally stitched that one for my husband! I promise with patterns like “I Dissent” and the graveyard of gender roles you won't be disappointed. So go out there and “Smash the Patriarchy” by ordering this book and getting your stitch on.
ARC received by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
It's hard to write a review for this. Each story was so much it's own entity that to lump them into a single phrase seems limiting. So.. The first story the Phoenician was my favorite, the implications of this story of the 80's are far reaching. I'm just glad that's over. Creeeeeepy. The second story was difficult to stomach, the idea coming off of the elementary school shooting in Connecticut, it's no wonder. I'll wholeheartedly admit that I was unable to stomach much of this story, and the ending left much to be desired. The third, poor Aubrey, was so so cool. If I were to revisit any of these stories at a later date it would probably be this one. Aubrey with his grief, his cloud, and his girl just out of reach. Time to move on. Finally, Honeysuckle Speck, hehe, a heroin if I ever met one. Her journey, her righteousness, her absolute desire to set things right or met out justice, is admirable. I would definitely count her among my friends. Overall, I really enjoyed this collection and will with absolute certainty read more from Joe Hill.
If you're seeking prayer guidance, or want to pray but don't know how to start or what to pray for, than this book could be for you. Unfortunately it wasn't for me. Just about the only thing I enjoyed was the art that separated the prayerful suggestions.
So well done! Enjoyed it so much! Such a clever divergence... A killer 20 years after his final act... A survivor engaging the public in an attempt to catch him... Two points of view escalating into a truly twisted ending! More please!
Best audio ever! The story is exciting and progresses very well. The characters are exceptional and well developed. BBC radio went above and beyond. Awesome!
Such a lovely, lovely story, full of struggle and discovery, with a fulfilling ending. Left its imprint on my heart for sure.
Striking!
The artistry and story telling in this graphic novel are wonderful! They story of Ever and Hannah and their fight to save the city of Oskars is fun and full of mischief. I cant wait to share this with my kids!
Definitely not my favorite. Felt like it was written for the wrong time period, super mundane and uninteresting... Movie is better.
Jennifer Daniels, JD, Jade... We never get to know the girl that was Jennifer Daniels, only the girl on the cusp of womanhood, of freedom. She is intelligent and tormented, sharp as a knife. Her heart is so broken by this torment that it's become a metaphorical chainsaw. She is a lover of slasher films to the point of obsession, her focus absolutely singular, she is willing with all the hope she's retained for a slasher to come to her hometown of Portrock, Idaho. A secluded mountain town, quiet, with its own eerie history of witches and murder and accidents that's ripples spread wide over time. When she believes her wishes are coming to fruition, there is practically nothing she wouldn't do to prepare the town's savior, the final girl, Letha Mondragon... The question that stands is can she, can't she.
My Heart is a Chainsaw is most definitely an ode to the Slasher horror genre, the references abound, and not a single reviewer can argue this. I love slashers, I grew up in the '80s/'90s when Michael Myers, Jason, and Freddy Kruger, even PinHead, Chucky, and Ghostface were at the top of Horror. But what most people neglect to acknowledge, is the trauma that floats below the surface. It is there, it is bright and burning, and when it is finally released, it is damn brilliant.
I listened to the narration of My Heart is a Chainsaw, and it ripped through me. The performance by Cara Gee was so on point that I could easily believe Jade was talking directly to me. I can not begin to describe the feeling I was left with after Cara Gee's performance. It is and will probably remain one of the best audiobooks I'll listen to.
How do you maintain your love when the universe is out to destroy you? That's a question for Sydney, the star-child, and future victim of the Torrian race. Prince William is the chosen Torrian sent on this murderous mission. Brought up to hunt and deflect all feeling, determined to bring honor back to his family, it's not until he is in close proximity to the star-child that his barriers come crumbling down.
Full of action and intensity Protostar is an exciting scifi romance. I enjoyed its lightheartedness as well as the constant action and would def recommend to all YA lovers.
Loved this! It was such an epic tale! Took me forever but every disc was worth it. Absolutely the best narration I've ever heard period.
wonderful little book, with a wonderful little message, with a big impact
recommend for everyone
This, ooooo, this book! It was a bit of a shocker for me... I picked it based on the cover and ;) title, and had no idea it was a menage a trois romance! That is not what I reach for when I'm looking for some spice, but now, it just might be. It was sweet and spicy, with just the right amount of heat. Don't get me wrong this book was one trope after another, but it was done in such a way that even though I rolled my eyes at EVERYTHING related to the EX-FIANCE, I was also reassured by those hulking muscles owned by not 1 but 2 hunks. Whoa.
Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of enjoyment and laughs I got out of this. April, Quinn and Austin are quite a match.
Thanks to @NetGalley for the advanced readers edition of Stroke of Luck and to Opal Crew and St. Martin's Press for making it available.
The Code for Love and Heartbreak is an adorable coming of age YA romance. This book took a bit for me to get into, the characters were childish and the motivations were unclear to me, but the story had such a fulfilling ending that I can't not recommend this. If you love awkward characters, you're going to devour this book.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of The Code for Love and Heartbreak. This was a well-done story and I'm thankful for the opportunity.
1.5 ⭐
What a flipping snooze fest. So glad I'm in this century and not Asimov's. It started out promising and slowly, irritatingly deteriorated from there. That goes without saying anything about the misogyny and antiquated science and theories. This book made my ears bleed, figuratively, but damn am I glad to be done this chore.
Thanks Mr Junblut for the recommendation... Or not.
This read sent me mixed messages. Im not sure the message it did relay was a healthy one.
Fun, definitely quirky, full of stereotypical characterizations... Just another hard working girl, brought to heel by a man... LOL
Unsure whether I will continue, but fact is it's a real easy read, and it's light, and the silliness of it really does make you laugh out loud.
