I found this story a little hard to get into. Not sure if it's because you don't read much about Peter, Susan, Edmond and Lucy who you got to know so well in the last book!
Amazing to think this was based on a true story. The risks the librarians took to deliver books and keep the library open during the war! I read this in two parts. First of all I read the 1940s chapters through to the end and then went back and read Lily's story in the 1980s.
I was incredibly worried that we were going to lose Nana Mama - so pleased she came right!
I'm not sure where I saw the recommendation to read this book but I really enjoyed it! Not only did it have a granny pretty much inviting herself to a scientific post at Antarctica but also penguins! It had sadness, romance and funny parts.
A really easy read that actually gave me a couple of real tears at the end, lol. I will definitely read more of her books!
Wow! I have to read the next book asap! I have to know what happens next with the Cross family!
What a great story! I had real tears at the end! This is the second book I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more books by her!
Took me a little while to get through this! Doesn't help that I'm back at work now! Not a fan of books that jump back and forward in time but it does make sense in this story as you need to learn Lily and Olivia's back stories.
I think I enjoyed The School of Essential Ingredients more than this. While you got to know each character and how they knew Kate, it didn't flow for me like the last book of hers I read.
I would have liked more of the Search and Rescues with the dogs but was a great story. The serial killer storyline running along behind reading about Fee and Simon getting to know each other was pretty cool.
A great story! We finally learn all about Mercy and their mother. So pleased that the story had a happy ending!
I really only read this for part of a challenge but it really surprised me. I enjoyed it and felt for the characters. I've discovered that this is not a stand alone book and would quite like to read more in the series.
I decided to read this for a prompt for a book about a difficult topic for a challenge I'm doing. It had drink driving, accidentally killing your best friend, going to prison and finding out you're pregnant, giving your baby to your boyfriend thinking she'd have a great life and then when released finding out her life isn't that great. So many lives hurt from one night. So glad that it all worked out in the end though.
Not a fan of vampires! I didn't enjoy that side of the story but it was good to see the Mastermind from the last story get caught in the end!
I really enjoy these Andy Carpenter stories. I haven't been able to read them from the start but it doesn't matter as you get introduced to the main characters in each story, well in the two that I've read you have anyway. There are some great one liners that make you laugh out loud!
Really interesting! Not only do you learn how he turns a donkey that was owned by a hoarder and is in a terrible state into a running donkey. But you also learn about the armish and friends with mental health issues.
I think this was a great book. I really felt a real connection with all the characters. It was such an easy read. It was different to the other two books of hers I've read but once again it dealt with a real life issue.
Another awesome book in the series. It was a really quick read for me!
Looking forward to the next book!
I was hoping we were going to find out what happened to Atlee's sister before the end, hopefully it will be in the next book. I had read a few reviews of people who weren't a fan of this book so wasn't sure how it was going to go. I really enjoyed it and have to read the next book now!
Has encouraged me to have a clean out of my wardrobes and drawers! She had some really good ideas.
Gave me all the feels! The mandolorian reference made me laugh out loud! Other things made me laugh and gave me lumps in my throat and even a couple of tears! I wish there was a fourth book!
Another great read in this series. Didn't focus on the whole team in this book, just Amos and Alex who were on vacation visiting Alex's sister. Just a case of being in the right place at the right time and boom they're involved in a new case, even though they are on holiday! I thought the rapport he had with Alex's six year old niece was very cute! It's got twists and turns along the way and exciting from start to finish!
I read this as a debut novel for a reading challenge I'm doing. It was a story with a twist. Could be triggering for some people.
