See allThis was the first thing we read as a class in my Honor's 10th grade Lit class this semester. I gotta say I probably (probably being defined as 100% certain) wouldn't have read this simply by seeing it here or on a shelf somewhere. I had to be forced to do it. But after we read the first chapter together, I got pulled into it and ended up finishin it a week before I was supposed to. It has a great message that needs to be preserved and passed on.
A great classic. Many stories we all know and love and many lesser known ones that deserve to be read. While I respect the author's choices, I would like to point out that many of the stories don't seem appropriate for children. If you're not familiar with the Hans Christian Anderson original version of The Little Mermaid, don't expect a written version of the Disney reimagining. And don't read it to your kids without reading it yourself first.
I absolutely loved this novel. Much better than Stephanie Meyer's more popular book series Twilight (yuck). Better characters, better plot, better setting, better love story. Even if you absolutely hated Twilight (like I do), this is still an amazing read. And even if you adored Twilight (no offense to you, I just don't like it) you'll definantly love reading this exemplary example of English literature.
Forced to read it in HN Lit. I don't completely hate it but I can't say I like it either. It was just really boring and had a stupid ending.
GAH!!!! SO GREAT YET SO FRUSTRATING!!!!! I have a love-hate relationship with cliffhangers in the sense that I realize it makes the series more interesting, but the ANNOY THE HECK OUT OF ME. I love that Ren, Kishan, and Kelsey finally have a quest together and I love the visual I got from the description of the dragons and other creatures they met. Very descriptive writing and ALWAYS WITH THE CLIFFHANGERS!!! WHY COLLEEN WHY?!?!!?!?!
