It was a good book describing what goes on in world of Chinese tech companies and how they started and work now. It has some details and stories on Jack Ma and some other Chinese entrepreneurs.
“To do for the world more than the world does for you – that is success”. Ford
good text and nice illustrations!
Although the contents are OK, the book print quality claimed to be an art book is poor and it looks like some papers printed using a color printer on generic quality paper and extremely zoomed out pictures on art works. It is not suggestible as a gift or art book by me.
I guess it was more eventful and more unpredictable than previous books and I certainly enjoyed a lot while reading it but ...
But I liked After You more and comparing to the first book I also prefer that one. This was a great ending for an unfinished story we were faced in After You and in fact a “must have one” in the series. I really liked it and I think the time I spent reading it and watching the world from eyes of Louisa Clark through it was well spent and I'm satisfied with it.
Had a good feeling reading this illustrated edition, I had actually tried reading an electronic version (not illustrated) before and failed.
I had seen the movie many years ago and it was strange for me to remember lots of scenes from the movie and having voice of movie actors reading their dialogues. After all, IMHO, Ron in the illustrated edition drawings does not suit him as the one in the movie. He was perfect in the movie. Looking forward to next volumes.
I was not satisfied with the book at the beginning, and it seemed that I might abandon it.
Nearly at the end it became much more readable, I had not previously know enough about Greek mythology and I now know some names because of this book.
It is not a page turner, but near the end I did want to know what happens next and go through it effortlessly.
I read almost half of it during my free time at work. Choosing classic books to be informed of their content seems to be a good idea, although all of them might not be joyful and readable. This one's language was complex for me and I took it easy and read it with a sense of ignorance and skipping what I could not understand. The book main characteristics is its idea for a story, a double personality character: both in mental and physical terms and it could be base for different story lines. It was not always a bearable read for mostly because of its language complexities. The story has some twists and is made up of multiple incidents and adventures although they are not much enigmatic so that your sense of curiosity helps you finish the book.
It was long, may be I have read longer books but they weren't as eventful as this one. So, it could be divided into multiple volumes. And the story, it was good, although I think about their return to Australia why hadn't anybody asked how is it now not possible to go back using an airplane like their departure? But it was good and I'm happy that I've read this book.
IMHO, It is a book that if you haven't read it yet you have missed a must-experience thing in you life.
The most enjoyable and magnificent one in the series until now. I had not seen the movie in contrast of the other two prior books and decided to not watch it before I finish the book. Although it was predictable enough to guess the story would have some twists about its characters, it was arranged in a really good manner, keeping signs of twists and surprises rarely noticeable all over the story.
A detailed and well researched documentary on Jeff Bezos and Amazon. Almost every block of text refers to an interview or some other types of documented references. The only book with the same level of details I have in my mind is Bad Blood (the story of Theranos)
Although the edition I read ends with events of 2014 and was old. In addition I think among the English books I have read so far, the language of this book was the most complex one, filled with unknown words needing me to look them up in dictionary in which I ignored them and satisfied myself the imaginary meanings that I brought to my mind for them.
Although my poor English prevented me have full pleasure while reading later chapters, I had a good time reading this nice book.
I like chapter 25, how cute is Phoebe.
Finally finished it. It was not a whole enjoyable read but not something I regret reading it. Liked it, and it is a book I guess I might want to re-read on other occasion because of its unique language and style.
I listened to the audio book. I guess reading the hard cover is not as pleasurable as listening to Kevin Hart himself reading it and it was a good audio book.
I liked the beginning, the part about when he was struggling. The last part I listened just to make sure I finished the book and I think I could skip it without missing anything important. Although life lessons and advice are all good in all parts and you could consider it some kind of a self-help book because of them.
I saw the movie completely recently and read the book which helped me understand what I'd missed from the movie. Good book and great movie.
I was not familiar with Norse mythology, I've got familiar with it through this book and the Thor movies. It was hard to start but easy to continue. The mthology is told through some short stories which are told in a way that you can read them independently (required background stories are retold whenever they are needed).
As I said in progress of reading, mostly at the beginning the book looks like transcibed version of Trever's standup comedies. But later it gets more serious. He have had a life filled with various experiences and he seems to be very brave in speaking about his experiences which some may seem even shameful. His experiences seems to have gave him wisdom and made him somebody who should be respected not just because of his talents but also because of his personality.
From later chapters where the author participates in the story and plays his role as a journalist, you have a sense like after becoming angry with the story bad guys and villains, they are being punished by justice and good guys. I like this part the most.
The previous chapters, as the author states at the end is the story of psychopath company manager and her violent and vigorous helper and also a fake-it-until-you-make-it company which instead of working in software development industry plays with people's lives in health industry.
Full of twists but actually perhaps intentionally by author predictable. I guess every reader might feel if some parts of story was told in different ways it might become better. The story reveals its secret directly, I guess it might become more joyful if they were told by events and not directly. I do not want to spoil the story, there are events which are evidences of parts of story, for example a video is revealed while we already know whose role might be revealed by it. So was not it better to keep the reader in the dark until revealing the video so that reader can have joy of discovering secrets indirectly? However it was a good read and I'm satisfied with the time I've spent with it.
Although I might need to re-read some parts of this great book because I did not read them enthusiastically and with enough concentration I almost enjoyed all of it. Great book for everybody interested in popular science.
Somehow a random book I selected to read in my holidays, I'm happy that it was a good choice. As Vince himself states when he mentions his encounter with teenage Iraqi boy who become joyful when he receives a small eraser he had luck to be born and live in the greatest country of the world. But his luck does not guarantee his hassle free and comfortable life. He has his big set of problems which he should overcome with help of his family and other people around him. Liked the book very much.
I liked it more than Me Before You, actually I feel not ashamed if I say loved it. An adventure already begun slowly in the prior book, goes on at a faster face and plays with all your feelings: grief, sadness, bewilderness, enigmatic wonders, being judged, feeling responsible, feeling betrayed and anger, fear and fuzziness and even stress and action. I guess I did not let myself to have enough pleasure reading the last two chapters trying to finish it so that I could carry the next book (Still Me) with me while going out this afternoon and these two chapters were marvelous! Loved them and I like to reread them at a more peaceful state later.
I would like to copy/paste some of my thoughts and feelings I had expressed earlier during my reading experience here:

5.68% “I feel just the same as the prequel: reading with pleasure and without trying or making myself to, and finding myself smiling unconsciously as I probably imagined what I read. Easy in terms of language for a non-English speaker with a limited set of vocabulary and written is such a way I feel I'm actually hear it in a sweet British accent as I'm reading it.”
October 28, 2018 – page 196
55.68% “Sweetness, being fuzzy and becoming angry! That's not in correct order but that is what I've caught reading recent pieces. And as I told before: reading it is great pleasure which makes you want to do it. Not a process by which you try to continue what you started to end, not like the one I have now with The Stand. although The Stand has its own moments but this one is full of moments!”
October 29, 2018 – page 218
61.93% “Having some parts of story told by people other than Louisa, was an innovative way used in Me Before You, seeing scenes from the view and becoming more familiar with other protagonists in the story, although they are not as sweet story tellers as the main character and I did not wish to hear more from them in the first book. I've reached -I guess- the first chapter of this kind in this one and it is interesting ...“

90.34% “and then it comes, something new, stressful and action packed moments of the story, and it is good and makes your eyes run along lines of the book”
October 31, 2018 – page 346
98.3% “Although I did not need even a single sheet of tissue while reading Me Before You (it was suggested it should be sold with a pack of tissues!), I admit that I may needed some while reading chapter 29 of After You. Accompanying people who now I know and know each one have a burden of a great loss in their life and being in a moment of them speaking of their loss was tearfully nice!”
I liked this book especially its later chapters very much (even better than Me Before You series), although I preferred a more lengthy ending but I guess its briefness at the end was somehow good.
