See allThey are getting a lot better, this one is one of my favorites. Such awesome characters.
I enjoyed this book immensely. When it started off I was a little put off by the topic and writing style, but by the 3rd or 4th chapter I couldn't put it down.
I really liked the twists, the characters, and especially the ending.
As usual I wish they show more “after”, how they live after everything is done, but I'm glad they don't, because not knowing is fun.
SO MANY REFERENCES!
I have so many things I now have to look up.
One of the most messed up books i've ever, and probably will ever read. This is the second time i've read this book. Both times I've thought it was messed up, and enjoyed it up until the ending. The ending was a bit on the weaker side compared to the entire book.
That being said, I'd still recommend it if you are not easily squeamish
Also, i'm still looking forward to the singularity.
I would say its by far the worst Cory Doctorow book i've read (and I've read a large number of them). It reads like an advertisement / fangasiming for all of his favorite things online. Lots of name dropping.
There are a large number of elements of the book I liked. I really want to build stuff, even tempted to try to get re-involved with the local hackerspace. I found the ending a bit disappointing.
I'm not sure I'd recommend it, but I don't regret reading it.
