I’m not the biggest fan of romance books but this one was pretty good. I kept a smile on my face while reading this book. What I appreciated most was that this was not super corny and close to being pretty realistic.

What I did have a problem with was the talk of “hot breath” in intimate moments. This happened a couple times in the book. Someone’s “hot breath” on me is not sexy, it’s more so the opposite. I understand trying to paint the picture of the closeness, but “hot breath” is not the best way to describe it.

Overall this book didn’t blow my mind in anyway, but I did have a good time reading it.

This is my second Ruth Ware book and I’m coming to find out I don’t like her writing style.

I will start with the good. The ending to this book was great. I felt it had a good enough twist to find a little bit of satisfaction from this book.

My main problem with this book and the other Ruth Ware book I read (“The It Girl”) is that there is so much descriptive writing that I start to lose interest. It does nothing to propel the story forward. After reading all the play by play writing the pay off is not there. It was not a joy to read over all. She doesn’t write in a way (for me) that makes me want to keep turning the page.

I have a hard time DNFing a book so I push through. This ending was more satisfying than “The It Girl” so I am thankful for that.

I wanted to like this so bad, but it didn’t do it for me. This book has the elements of “Desperate Housewives” (one of my favorite shows) and “Mean Girls” but missing good comedic moments and depth to the dramatic parts.

The start of the book gets you with this suspenseful event that happens, but you get lost in the petty drama that means nothing. Which makes you not even care about the looming event.

The characters that were connected to the most intriguing event in the story were written as side characters. They should have been the main focus of this book, it definitely could’ve been more of an interesting read.

Overall there was potential for this book, but it didn’t live up to it. There was nothing to really grab on to with this story. It wasn’t very funny and it wasn’t moving in any way. Unfortunately, I do not recommend.

I really appreciated this book. I love the realistic scenarios that were in this book. The different ways rejection can manifest was very fascinating to read. I could totally empathize with the characters throughout the story. I will say there were some interesting situations in this book too. This book was a unique experience that I enjoyed. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good change up in their fictional reading.

I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately I didn’t. I kept hearing that the best way to read this book is through an audiobook, which I completely agree with. The podcast portions of the book sounded like an actual podcast. However, as I was listening I would be thinking this would be a real drag to read as a regular book. The story didn’t really move well as you went through the book.

The biggest issue I had was that too many of the characters exhibited the same behaviors. There were multiple characters with abusive behaviors and multiple characters with promiscuous behaviors.

The inner voice of the main character was a bit annoying for a little more than half the book, with the repetitive “kill, kill, kill” thoughts. Also for me the casual talk about killing someone came off as so unrealistic.

My favorite character in the book was the grandma. I love a gives no fu*ks drunk grandma.

I am sad to say I can not recommend this book.

This was an engaging read. This book totally feels like it could be a thriller movie. I enjoyed this read. Each chapter kept me more invested. I love how it was written with the short chapters too.

My only critique for the story was the international travel in some parts. It seemed a little much but overall not a big deal. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a good thriller.

I absolutely love this book. I hardly knew anything about Hitchcock and I fully enjoyed it. I love how this book had kind of two parts to the themes of the story. The first half has you completely drawn in with suspense. It kept me guessing and wanting to read on. Then you get to a part where things are revealed but that not it, now you have a whodunnit situation that keeps you invested.

A big thing I appreciate about this book is that none of the twists felt far fetched. I could totally see it being possible as to how things ended up. It was a very pleasant experience as a person who loves thrillers. I highly recommend. Also the little facts about Alfred Hitchcock throughout the book was a nice touch.

This book didn’t do anything for me. The twist this book had was pretty predictable and lack luster. It’s not that long of a book but I felt like it was going in circles for a bit talking about the same things. The story was hard pressed to move forward. I didn’t get attached to any of the characters. The plot had potential to be a lot more twisty but it was a let down. Not the worst book in the world, but I would not recommend.

I don’t know if I had any real feelings going into this book, but I was pretty satisfied with it when I was done. This book had a lot more twist in it than I expected. And there was bit of it that kept me on the edge of my seat. For me, I did not see the twist coming. If you’re looking for a twisty ride, I would recommend this book.

This was a nice book. I feel it’s a great book for a teen that is part of the LGBTQ+ community that can easily relate to the main character. I did get a few laughs out of it also. I would recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book. Even with the story having a layer of a sensitive topic, you are able to read the book with a smile on your face. There were a handful of parts where this book made me laugh. With this book you receive a nice morale to the story. You get to see how the main character grows. My only critique to this book is that the ending felt a little rushed but it still appreciated it. This book was a pleasant surprise for me. This book is definitely not meant to be taken seriously. It was just an ok read for me. I feel it should have took more of a comedic approach. (There was plenty of opportunity throughout this book.) If not a more comedic approach, then lean in heavier on the seeking approval of others and then developing a sense of self approval. This book leaves you somewhere in the middle. Which makes me give it a middle kind of rating.

This was such an enjoyable read for me. I don’t think I have enjoyed characters in a book so much. Everything about this book came off so real. That is what I appreciated the most about it. Since the characters came off so realistically it kept me wanting to read this book to see what happens with them. I absolutely love this book.

I saw a lot of people giving this book a lot of positive reviews so I thought I should give it a shot. Unfortunately this book hardly did anything for me. This book did not move me in any way. I had a little empathy for some of the characters but not enough to make me root for anyone. The underlying mystery throughout the book is what made me finish it and even after finding out what happened just left me feeling, well that’s done. I wouldn’t put this in the bad category of books but I wouldn’t put it in the good category either. I guess when you watch a lot or read a lot of stories it’s not to hard to guess what happens.

This book was an ok read. I enjoy the suspense, but I was able to guess a lot of the twist which took a little of the enjoyment away. If you can read it without trying to guess what’s gonna happen it will be a much more enjoyable read.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. It is such a touching story of a lasting relationship going through many trials and tribulations. I found the characters to be quite likable.There are some funny parts along with some really heart felt moments. My only critique is that it’s a tad too long. Even so, it’s still a satisfying story.

I didn’t hate this book. I did appreciate the feminist narrative and touching on the topics of racism and fetishization. The toxic masculinity that was portrayed in the book felt very generic. I think the book could’ve benefited from a more less in your face misogyny examples to help give the character more depth. Same goes for the main character, I would’ve like to have read more into how she got to this place where she goes over the edge. It just happened, which leaves me wanting a bit more out of the character. You can read between the lines a bit to understand her frustration but the level of her extremities is what I wish had more reasoning behind. The gore was great. So if you’re looking for that you will definitely get that. One small thing I don’t care for, more so at the early parts of the book was the saturation of all the food talk. Not a big deal but I was getting full from all the eating references. Overall, just an ok book.

I’m not much of a history person, but this was fun and intriguing to read. I appreciated how they would throw in some modern day connections. I just wish there was a little bit more of that. The illustrations were great and very entertaining to go through as you read.

This was interesting read for me. This was a fast book to read, but there were times while I was reading that I was wondering where are you going with this. Which if it would have been longer, I think a lot of people would’ve gave up on it. There were a few spots in the book where I felt the creepy vibes. As you read it you see the big event coming but you don’t know how it’s coming. Which leads to it being a more satisfying read. I had idea that this was a movie, until after I read it. So now I can’t wait to see how the film brings the story to screen.

This was not as thrilling as I thought or wanted it to be. The story was fine but it did not have that page turner, keep you guessing, suspenseful type of feeling throughout it. I did not feel strongly about any of the characters. Just an ok story.

I love this book so much! This book is such a page turner in all the right ways. I enjoyed the vibe of both the main characters Myron and Win. The suspense, action and drama is absolutely perfect. When you think you know what the twist is gonna be, think again. It was a pleasant surprise to be surprised by the twist. And the twist made sense. You didn’t have to really stretch your mind to believe the twist once it’s revealed. I didn’t realize that this book was part of a series when I first started it. However I did not feel lost or I that I was missing any part of the story. This is my first Harlan Coben book and I picked a great one to start on a high note. I can’t recommend this book enough, especially if you are a thriller reader.

I enjoyed this book. My only gripe with it was that the book didn’t keep that guessing feeling throughout the book. The book went so hard trying to lead you to believe one thing that you just know it it wasn’t going to be that. By it doing that it took some of the suspense out of it for me. The ending was a little messy in my opinion, but overall still a decent read.

The word I left with this book is “interesting.” For me this book did not really pull me in. It had a lot of descriptions of gore. The second half was a little better. It’s not until you get to the very end of this book and put everything together in regards to the main character. I was gonna give it a 3.5 but I kept thinking about it after I was done so I had to give it a full 4 stars. It definitely became a psychological thing in the end to really make you think.

This book was fine. I definitely empathize with the authors situation. However, I was not as inspired as I was hoping to be. There was a lot of descriptions of medical situations. I wished the book had gone more in-depth on the author’s feelings a little more. I am open to reading it again to see if I can grasp something I may have missed.

This book started in a downward trajectory for me because it was giving a very similar vibe as “The Guest” by Emma Cline and I did not like that book. The thing that made this book ok for me that is had more of a conclusion to it and you could actually see the growth in the main character. Something about how the style of how it was written I did not appreciate. To me the book did not have a good flow to it. The thing I did appreciate the most was the characters and the interactions were very realistic.
