I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed and appreciated this book. Kerry's story had a lot more to it than I thought. What I appreciated most about this book was that she inspired me to have a deeper look inside of my self to discover who I really am as a person, without the influence or pressure of who I am connected to or what I do for a living. Also if you were a big fan of the show Scandal than it's nice to hear about show from our “white hat.”
I highly enjoyed this book. It was a feel good kind of read for the most part. I already liked John Stamos, but after reading his story it made me like him even more. I did learn a lot about him that I didn't know. It was nice to hear about the values he got from his parents and how he carried them throughout his life.
I felt this story was very disjointed in parts. I didn't have a strong connection to the characters. The story lead with good suspense and mystery but I felt like it didn't all connect in a satisfying way. I would not look to this for good horror. Overall I would not recommend this book.
Wow this was a total shocker for me. I would almost say you could place this book in the thriller genre. This was such an eye opening story, and what an inspiring one. I would encourage anyone, especially young women to read this book. Even though she comes from privilege, she still has a great story of triumph.
This book was way over detailed and unnecessarily long. I felt the story did not move forward in a lot of places where it should have. To give an example, I was 150 pages into the book and I felt like I went no where with the story. The second half is a little better and the twist is pretty good. However, after reading all the detailing and dialogue the payoff to get to the climax and ending is not the most satisfying.
This book was such an inspiration! To learn of the struggles that Viola Davis went through to finally get to where she is today is triumphant. The authenticity of the story telling allowed for a true connection to her story. I highly recommend.
This has become one of my favorite books. I chose to ignore all the bad comments I heard and read online and go into this with an open mind. Worthy is so much more than just another celebrity memoir. I found so much value in the inspirational quotes she included and the exercises she promotes for personal growth. I highly recommend this book. I encourage you to go into it with an open mind and an open heart as I did, and I'm sure you will get some positive notes to take with you on your life's journey.
I actually had watched the show to this book first. And now having had read the book, I think the tv show did a great job adapting this book. It's hard for me to say if I like the book or the show better. The story is great. It has a great thrilling drive to it. Definitely recommend reading this and checking out the show, both are a great entertaining experience.
This was a different kind of read for me. I can say I appreciated the characters and their struggles. I don't know if I like the style of how this was written. I felt a little lost sometimes with how this was structured. I will say for me this one I will probably be reading again to see if I could get a little more out of it and think about it from another perspective.
This book was just ok. I had a few parts where it made me chuckle. I felt like there was opportunity to include more funny sequences throughout the book. There was a touching moment the main character had with his mother that I appreciated. I will say the plot line was kinda unique, however the story as a whole did not move me.
This book was fine. I definitely empathize with the authors situation. However, I was not as inspired as I was hoping to be. There was a lot of descriptions of medical situations. I wished the book had gone more in-depth on the author’s feelings a little more. I am open to reading it again to see if I can grasp something I may have missed.
This was such a satisfying read for me. The suspense held up all the way to the end, with a good twist. The twist was great at the end because it was not far fetched and after you think about it you feel how the book was so worth the read in the end. The story came together very well. I would highly recommend!
This was such a joy to read. I could really see this play out on screen in my mind. The suspenseful drive this book had was great. One minute you think you know who's behind everything and then something else gets added to the equation to make you second guess yourself. All in all it came to be a very satisfying read. I highly recommend.
This was such a cozy read. I would consider myself not a huge romance reader, but this one kept a smile on my face. I loved how all the different stories were connected in some way. The diversity in all the stories were great to see as well. I love to see the inclusivity. I highly recommend for anyone wanting a quick cozy read.
This was such a disappointing book. It was just this girl wandering around town. There was no introspective moments that I got from it. Some of the situations she got into were interesting but that's about it.
This book was totally fine. It had a great build up of keeping you in suspense. However once you got to a certain point it became pretty easy to figure out what was going to happen. It was nice that most of the chapters were short and it was easy to get through. Not a bad read at all.
I had read a lot of positive things about this book and maybe I had too high of expectations for it. Overall it was a good book. It took me a bit to really get into it but I got there. The twist were good. The overall feel of this book was a movie that I feel like I have seen many times before. (Which I believe they are making this into a film) Not a bad story, just not as thrilled as I had hoped to be.
This was an interesting ride for a book. There were times when I was pretty sure of how it was gonna go but more info gets brought into play and gives the story a new light. I found the narrator of the story to be fun at times, like a friend you hang with but then more info comes out and then I'm not so sure. At times I got a little lost where things were but it all comes together for a clear understanding. Overall, a good read. Also there is a small surprise at the end (if you had the pleasure of reading Silent Patient)
This is one of the best books I have read! I absolutely loved the suspenseful pull this book had over me. I loved how it was written with the different characters perspectives. The twist were exciting and realistic. The story came to a very satisfying ending. This was my first Lucy Foley book, but I can't wait to read more of her books! I highly recommend.
I enjoyed this book. It had a good suspenseful presence and kept me intrigued to get to the end. The part where I have mixed feelings on was the supernatural parts. I didn't hate that there was some but I didn't love it either. I would recommend if you want a mystery ride with a few hills (if that makes sense)
I enjoyed this book. It was a very fast read. I love how it gets right into what the book is about. I appreciated that the details in the book were not over sold, but enough so you can paint a good picture of what's happening. The ending kinda leaves you wanting more, however with the theme and tone of the book I think it was an appropriate ending.
WOW! If you are looking for some good smut, you came to the right book. This was straight up porn in word format. Outside of all the sexual content there are so many other good qualities. I absolutely love how this book illustrates a woman being empowered and secure with her sexuality. This book did such a great job at showcasing a non traditional relationship in a positive way, in my opinion. The characters were definitely written as for people you want to root for, even if one of them gets kinda annoying. I totally recommend this book to men, women, trans, nonbinary, gay, straight, bisexual, even asexual. As long as you are for reading or listening to a lot of sex and can go into it with an open mind, you will enjoy this.
I appreciated this story a lot because it showed the challenges of a young black gay boy has to face. At the same time it shed light on a young white boy's struggles too. The sci-fi aspect made the story a bit unique. However, for me I got a little lost in some of the action scenes. Great story.
I feel like this would have been a good book for the 2000's maybe early 2010's. I see the sentiment of this book as honorable, but as a gay man myself I disagree with the narrative that a gay persons life only revolves around being gay. People are more than their sexual identity. I appreciate the notion of being proud of who you are but be proud of all aspects of yourself. There are some good history lessons within this book, but other than that I got nothing from this book.
This was such a great book! I have to say I really appreciated the writing style. It was descriptive without stalling the story. The twist in the book were great and totally unexpected for me. I do have one critique, there was one reveal in the story that didn't really amount to anything once the rest of the story unfolded. However the story was brilliant nonetheless. This is my first Riley Sager book but definitely not my last. I can't wait to read their other work.
