As a button, Norman has a very important job. He help keep someone warm in their nice winter coat. But what happens when he cannot do the job he was designed for anymore? When he falls off the coat that he was attached to, he begins to wonder what his function is.
As he tries to find a place to fit in, he discovers many jobs that are not suited for a button. As Norman goes through the different emotions of trying to discover where he truly fits, he discovers a lot more about himself in the process.
This was a really cute little book. No matter your size, there is always a place for everyone to fit into. Finding that perfect fit can take a little time. I read this story out loud to my boys and they really enjoyed it too. The many mini adventures that Norman went on, really resonated with my kids.
Michelle Olson creates a fun book for kids. This was great for starting some conversations about what they are good at at their age, and where they are in life. While my kids are still young, they listed several things that they are good at doing. Great read! Perfect for kids learning to read as well!
When it comes to getting kids to read, you have to find something that is going to hold their attention. Attention spans are shorter these days. When I try to read to my kids, it can be maybe ten minutes before I lose them completely - depending on the book. There are some that we have been able to sit and read together for longer periods. When you find cute little books that are entertaining and fun, you jump at them! Bryony Supper has created a little series for kids, and they fulfill everything! Cute little stories, lessons in manners, and friends helping each other out.
In the Sorry Sticks, the Pasta Kidz learn what it means to say sorry and really mean it. When one of the Pasta Kidz gets a Big Ticket, they must learn what they need to do to resolve the ticket. But they cannot figure it out alone. They call on their friends to help. Together, they know what needs to be done, and make sure that everyone knows! Where would we be without our friends!?
I can't recommend this book enough! My boys and I read it together, and when it was finished, my youngest made the observation that sorry is a term that is used a lot, but it never really gets the meaning that it should. He said that many people say it, but don't really mean it. For a young kid, that is a big revelation. If you are looking to get your younger kids some great books, then you need to check out the Pasta Kidz series. Like I said earlier, you get fun, manners, and learn a little something in the process! I look forward to reading even more from Bryony Supper and the Pasta Kidz. Each book is a grand new adventure. We have read the first two books a couple of times now!
We deemed this book to have 5/5 stars! Thank you Bryony Supper for the copy of the book! We look forward to each new adventure!
Tiny T-Rex wants to give his friend a hug, but his arms are to tiny. He goes to ask those closest to him for advice and gets a lot of different answers. In the end, he learns how to hug his friend and make them feel happy again.
Cute and interesting little book. My kids loved the dinosaurs!
I received an electronic copy of this book for a fair and honest review from the publisher and Edelweiss
Fabulous and full of awesome facts! If you have kids who are interested in space (or want them to be) check this book out! My boys LOVED it!
Great description of Percy Shelley. I loved that the illustrations made it kid-friendly. My son and I read it together for his reading hour one afternoon, and he was blown away with this graphic novel. Perfect for kids and adults alike!
Fabulous illustrations, easy read, and good layout. I learned a few things about this gentleman that I had not previously known.
Perfect beach reading material!
I loved this book! The articles and the corresponding photographs really gave a glimpse into the Civil War. My kids and I loved looking over this book, even though the articles were over their heads, they enjoyed hearing about the different aspects.
I was a little disappointed that the license ran out so quickly for this one. I was not fully finished with it. Look forward to seeing an actual print copy so that I can get to the ending.
If you are in the mood for some short stories, then you need to check this book out. This book took me a little less than an hour to read, and the stories pretty much held my interest the entire way through. There, of course, are ones that you enjoy more than others, and a few managed to make the hair on my arms crawl a little bit. When it comes to crafting a spooky story, they have to be done in such a way so as not to give away the entirety of the story, and yet leave you wanting more. These stories can give you a glimpse into the mystical side.
As you read through the stories, each of them is woven in such a way that you almost want to anticipate what is about to happen, but not sure that your instincts are quite right. The story, Fraxinus Americana was one of my favorites. There is just something about a stately old tree to stir the imagination... yet leave you wanting a bit more. I want more of that story!! hint to the author here, that there could be a whole book from that one
There are a handful of stories that I look forward to taking to the campfires this summer. Grab this book, check it out... try reading through them all in the dark.. I dare you...
This is a great book for kids! When parent's leave for deployments it can be really hard to understand, especially when you are not talking to them every day like you are accustomed to.
The postcards that his grandfather shares with him are treasured memories, Before email and cell phones, postcards and letters would be sent back and forth, often taking a very long time to arrive. This was how communication could continue while away during a war.
We read this out loud together and my boys enjoyed the book immensely. They thought it was interesting to learn about the different ways people would keep in touch, especially as they have been through multiple deployments in our home.
Highly recommend this book!
If you are looking for a book that will make you rethink turning off the light at night, then you need to grab this book. It is a perfect read. These stories are spooky beyond all belief. There are very few things that make my skin crawl, very few books that have made me think anything but, what a good story... but these stories, oh my. Forget lions, tigers, and bears - you are going to be looking at the person next to you. The person in the grocery store.
Some of these stories are enough to make you shrug and check under the bed once before turning out the light. But there are several in this collection that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, and probably cause a grey hair or two (I seriously think I got a few more reading some of these). There are some that will outright make you rethink the sanity that you think you might have a grip on.
28 tales. 28 curl your toes, oh my goodness, reads. Who says you have to wait till Halloween to find those spooky reads? Mark Tullius has devised a new level of horror, and these stories will stay with you long after you finish reading them. Grab the book, and curl up for an evening of scary with a side of absolute horror. You might be sorry, then again...
If you are squeamish, or have an aversion to language, etc. This is NOT the book for you
A fascinating and captivating look at the role religion played in 16th and 17th century. We get a look at the Puritans, as well as how religion “motivated” men during this time.
When God Was King draws on little-known facts, things that have been looked over in history, and brings them to a more prominent position. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and even learning a bit more about Oliver Cromwell. I have always found him to be an interesting person, so to have him written about here was perfect.
A great read for those who love history!
Set against the backdrop of the American Revolution, “Dear George, Dear Mary” gives a glimpse into George Washington's first love and the letters that they shared.
This book was interesting on many levels. Not many hear about his first love, but we all know his wife, Martha.
The story was interesting and captivating. There were a few areas where it was rather slow, but then it would drag you back in.
Great read if you enjoy historical fiction! Based on the actual letters, this is a must read for summer.
Kaleb is a pre-teen with a sad past and a bad attitude. He is constantly making the wrong decisions and causing trouble for no good reason. He likes to beat up kids for their lunch money, steal things from the store, and cause mayhem wherever he can. He skips class, steals some candy, and heads to the park.
But at the park, he meets someone he does not expect, and that meeting has the ability to alter his entire future. What if he can change who he is becoming with simple actions? The wise older gentleman seems to know about Kaleb that he should, and Kaleb is not sure what to make of that....
Great book! We enjoyed it immensely. I read it to my kids and we had a great discussion afterward about treating people the right way and making good choices. Fabulous choice for kids who are struggling!
The Afterlife of King James IV is one of the best books this spring! Chock-full of information, and amazing detail. I initially thought I was going to be reading more of a ghost story, but the history in this book had me captured by page two.
From Flodden Field to England, France and beyond - the legacy of King James was a hard one to live down. The idea that he lived beyond Flodden was something that was passed around and whispered. If this was true, then why would he have not returned home? There were so many questions surrounding this, but the author delved into each one with confidence and was able to satisfactorily lay the “ghost” of James IV to rest.
If you loved the first adventure of Little Bit and Big Byte then you have to grab this book! They are back with a new adventure, this time, they are learning the importance of recycling and keeping the planet clean!
We loved this book, it was a fabulous way of getting kids interested in recycling, and my kids enjoyed the story immensely. We had fun searching for the hidden symbol in each picture, and of course, they liked the Vi and Russ made another appearance.

There are some great beginnings of stories here. Each of the Biblical ladies written about in this book had some great attributes, and some major failings at times.
The author works through the book with some humor, some attempt at humor, and stories from her own life woven into the threads. Some of the conversations from the ladies chosen were modernized just a little too much. I understand the author attempting to make the book relevant to readers, but I felt that it was trying just a little too hard to be “that” book.
There were some Biblical inaccuracies that I noticed throughout (albeit minor ones... still...) and I didn't always feel as though some of the stories really brought the lesson that the author was hoping for.
While this was an alright book, it would not be one that I would feel that I would want to read again, and might think twice about who I would recommend to read it.
This was a super cute book! My boys and I enjoyed reading it. Even though the format was a bit wonky, they enjoyed the book, and asked for a copy when it comes out!
Join the adventure of the Cyclops Witch as she overcomes her fears and maybe makes some new friends!
When it comes to freedom, one is willing to risk anything. Robert Smalls was no exception, and he was not only thinking of himself. He took a total of 16 people to freedom, after stealing a confederate steamboat.
This amazing story is great for kids who are learning the history of the United States. Not only was Robert Smalls a slave, but he ended up serving the United States government in the house of Representatives.
This is one amazing story and it deserves to be shared! Get this and read it to your kids now!
Lady Darby and her husband Gage are about to be drawn into another investigation, and this one threatens more than just a tangled web of deceit. Lady Darby herself is cast into suspicious light when her past comes back to haunt her.
When young aristocratic noblemen are murdered, there are questions as to why these men are being killed. With another killer on the loose, one who is taking unnamed victims from the street, and selling their bodies to those who dissect them for medical research, the noblemen don't seem to fit into the picture. But as the mystery deepens, so too does the idea that there might be an underlying cause, and only one of the noblemen is the real target.
Catch up with Lady Darby and Lord Gage as they work through the facts and try to figure out what is going on.
Oh my goodness! I could not put this book down! I had to stop myself from inserting spoilers into the review! This is one book that has to be read and enjoyed. I will say, there is one major bombshell in the book, that I did NOT see coming! Took me aback, and I had to re-read the section to be sure I was understanding!
Grab this book as soon as it becomes available! Perfect for those Spring Break trips or a quiet weekend!
Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the advanced copy for a free and unbiased review.
Gary is turning six, and he is excited to finally be able to reach the leaves on the tree that he wants to eat off of. But he has a major problem. Every time he tries to reach the leaves, he falls over. He tries a bunch of different ways, but until he asks his friends for help he will not be able to reach his goal.
Great book for kids learning to ask for help, and finding different ways to reach a goal. Perfect for young kids!
If you have kids who are interested in history and sciences, then you have to check this book out! It was fabulous! We had so much going page by page, and discovering new facts! The illustrations are amazing.
This is one book I think that we could go back to again and again, and find something new each time!
If you know the story of Robert the Doll this is a must read! If you are not familiar with the story of Robert then you have to grab this book! While this is written for YA, it was a fun and interesting read! I have loved the story of Robert, and the many claims that go along with him. One young man is about to find out what happens when you cross Robert!
If your kids (or you) love a spooky read, then this is one that you cannot afford to miss out on! Perfect for a weekend read, or just a great fall afternoon outdoors. Add this to your TBR list today!
Despite being an avid Ricardian, I did enjoy reading this book. For historical fiction it was not bad. While King Edward is on his way to London to be crowned after the death of his father, Richard, his uncle intercepts them. The Woodville side of the family was trying to control the king afraid to lose their power if they lost the king. But Richard struck before they realized they were in danger, removing the King from their safekeeping.
But when Edward is deposed and Richard stands to become king, things get very interesting indeed..
Great book for a quick spring break read!
This book was amazing! Blackbeard has given a romanticized view of pirates for many generations. But now, get to know him on a deeper level. From the start of his career to the sad ending of a fascinating life, this book will capture your interest from the start and keep you entranced throughout!
The life of Edward Teach (otherwise written as Thatch, or in the book, Thache) does not disappoint. Grab the book today!
