Incredibly introduction to 20th century Chinese history though the quotidian

Who would've thought a book detailing the buyout of a tobacco and biscuit company would be so hard to put down.

this book gives incredible insight into the world of modern finance and the egos that play into them. More relevant than ever today, can't reccomend this book enough

Andrew Roberts coverage of napoleon life may be some of the greatest biographical work I have ever read. Napoleons genius is clear not only as a military commander but as a political leader. As an incredible meticulous person who understood the needs of his people. This book reads like a Shakespearean tragedy whilst sharply analytical.

Took a bit to get into but arguably a must read - incredibly insightful into how the mongols shaped most aspects of the modern world from the renascence to Nazi military tactics
