See allNice book. I liked the super fresh style of narration, for instance, the way the caste system was explained. The prose was not so enjoyable though. One repelling thing was the repeated usage of the phrase “what the hell”.
It was a wonderful read. I would like to reread this one. Could appreciate the balanced views on Karna, who always was my favorite character. The last chapter where the author has traced the history of the word dharma was very informative. Some ideas of the author were kind of needlessly repetitive but nevertheless, a great book and a must-read for every Mahabharata fan.
A light but informative read. Shows all the struggle, political will and smart constructive measures post WW2 which has led to current powerful, wealthy Europe. The only thing I did n t like - the author seems to have a very arrogant, superior (“USA” is the greatest nation and leader on earth type rants) and condescending tone which was annoying.
I actually read the Tamil translation of this book. This was one of the books highly recommended by Ramana Maharishi to Annamalai Swamy. Ramana had asked Annamalai Swamy to read, write and practice the contents of this book to attain “liberation”. Ramana Maharishi himself gave the subtitles to the contents of this book when it was presented to him.
Fantastic book. I advise not to read it in a single stretch. The contents take time to assimilate.
