Nice
I loved the drawings, didn't realize Groot is scarier in the comics. Loved the storyline. Can't wait to read more!
I really enjoyed this book. I was looking for something very light that I didn't need to think about to hard and this is exactly what I needed. It dove deep into bullying that can start in middle school, but turns out good. Harriet is learning that she can't always count on Ole Golly to be there and that she is going to have to start growing up and figuring out the kind of woman she intends to be.
I did not enjoy that Harriet was forced to just move on from her nurse, Ole Golly, because that is a connection that she has obviously had for a very long time. I think the transition could of been a little better for Harriet to deal with.
When the kids found her notebook I was so angry that he friends were getting angry at what was written because they knew she was a spy and was constantly writing in her notebook. It wasn't something completely avoidable for them. Unfortunately the kids took what she wrote and tried to make it mean more than it did to Harriet, it was just notes about the neighborhood and the people she interacted with.
I hope to read this to my son one day so he will know that sometimes kids are mean. I want him to know if he is being the mean one or if someone else is and to stop it from happening.
The story was cute. It took me , what felt like, forever to read this. I just wasn't pulled into the story line, could be how busy I was or it could have been the story itself. I haven't decided if I am going to pick up the other novels or not. I just found out there is a 4th book in the series!
ANOTHER fantastic tale in this world. I am really enjoying these middle grade novels. They are packed with adventure, lessons and love.
This was a book I grabbed for my kindle because I thought I was getting the entire book for free. Spoiler: it was just the chapter sample. So annoying.
Once I decided that I wanted to read this I knew I needed to just get the dang book. My friend decided to read it with me.
The concept of the book is absolutely amazing. I really liked seeing the relationship between Gabe and Lea through everyone else. But, does everyone else actually notice two people falling in love like that in real life? I don't think so. As others have stated in their reviews there is a lot of rom com cliches in the book. The writing style is a little under whelming. I did however become invested in Gabe and Lea at the end of the October chapter.
I didn't like this book as much as the first two. I was getting confused between the conversations in the multiple time lines but that might have been because I listened to this on audiobook.
I bought this for my son, since he is stuck at home for a quarantine. Turns out that I loved this more than him. I read this out loud to my 9 year old son. I did funny voices and all. I absolutely loved this book. It was a great explanation of how an election happens. It also makes a great point that it is ok when an election doesn't pan out the way you voted, but that doesn't mean you need to get upset. You just pick yourself back up and get to work for the next election. If you have a child who is asking about the election and you want a fun way for them to learn about it, THIS IS THE BOOK.
Nostalgic read for the month. What more can I say about these as a 34 year old woman?!
Great, wish I had read in order
It was good. I do wish I had read this in-between books 1 & 2 instead of after completing the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was very well done and I can't wait for Vega to release another book.
Things I liked:
- How well written the gruesome scenes were. It made me absolutely terrified and my heart was racing at times.
Things I disliked:
-The characters were so deranged that they seemed almost unrealistic. The girls performing the exorcism were delusional for thinking that it was ok to torture another person and call it an exorcism.
Overall:
-This book is very obviously a YA horror novel. It is like what Rachel said, “Mean Girls meets the devil.”
If you are squirmish towards horror I would not recommend this book. If you are not a fan of reading something that has satanic ideas I also would not recommend this book although there isn't much satanism in this novel I still wouldn't recommend if you don't like reading anything about that topic.
Loved the art in this graphic novel. It was a great story too. I kind of want another one to see where Tamrika will go in her future! Great book!
This novel is about a butler who is trying to understand what qualifies someone as the best butler. His employer is out and offered him the Ford to take a little vacation. While travelling he is reminiscing about his time as a butler with his previous employer at Darlington Hall with Lord Darlington himself.
I loved reading about him visiting the village of Moscombe because it was interesting to read about villagers who thought Mr. Stevens was a ‘gentleman' instead of a butler. I was tickled to find out that Dr. Carlisle came to the conclusion too because Mr. Stevens had met all those well known people but didn't really have an opinion on them at all.
Throughout the novel you feel this push-pull between Mr. Stevens and Miss Kenton. It is like there should be more to their relationship than just the banter that they are constantly doing. The night of Miss Kenton's proposal is the night that if something were going to happen between the two it would have happened then. Unfortunately it did not and Miss Kenton left after her notice.
This was a great read about Chris and his time (and end) in the Alaska wilderness. I think it is fitting that I read this now while I have a cousin who is hiking the Appalachian Trail from Maine to the bottom. I have thoughts that Chris was definitely not prepared for all that he would encounter while in the wild but he accepted that. This was an emotional read.
I think this was an OK book. It took a while for me to be into the story, but once I was into the story it was smooth sailing.
I knew that Agnes was going to be executed but there were points in the novel where I was hoping and praying that she would either escape herself or someone would help her get away. This was a story that eventually swayed you to Agnes' side because of how she was being treated by the people who she was forced to be with. I even began to love the connection that she was making with the family she was staying with, it made it seem so real for her to be connecting with the family.
I have one question that is still lingering, the woman who ‘adopted' Agnes, was she the same lady that was the mother's caretaker when she was a little girl? This was never clear and my book club couldn't make up their minds about it either.
This book was so good. I loved that it was such a summer read. The way Emily was afraid to do anything on the list was so real. I am glad she managed to complete it. I loved the ending of the book too. I kept wanting to read this one. I never really wanted to put it down. Great novel Morgan Matson!
This novel is the second in the series. I really liked this book. I loved the dynamics of how the plot moved along, I wasn't happy about a lot of things, but I enjoyed the story. I was entertained the entire time.
I am mad that most of this book was not the scrimmage (a single chapter at that!) but I enjoyed the story a lot. I was upset about Cutmouth's death and that so many of the mime-lords and mime-queens are working with Nashira. I am not happy about the very end of the novel. I am not surprised because the story line lead to Jaxon working with Nashira anyways but it still hurts to see that on the page.
I am really enjoying this middle grade series. I can see why all the students are reading it. This one though started out a little slow and picked up some at the end. This one if not my favorite of the series. I am enjoying the dynamic between the dragonets and the adult dragons along the way. I can't wait to continue listening to the audiobooks from my library!
