It was well written but a bit predictable. I guessed the twist and that made me sad.
It took me until about 20% to get into it, but I'm glad I kept with it. All the characters were interesting and I liked the writing style.
Everyone in this book kinda sucks b/c they're all late twenty-somethings that need therapy.
This third act breakup is devastating if you've ever considered yourself the invisible or backup friend. 10/10 no notes
I realize I basically read this book yesterday, but damn it's still good. Though, I would have loved more of the Sisyphus plot.
This whole, same book different POV, concept is making this book hangover worse.
Tbh the PDA bothered me more than anything else, but I think that says more about me than the book lol.
Research those content warnings though bc it definitely earned them.
The premise was much cooler than the actual story. I've had this opinion on several books recently though so maybe it's just me.
Oof the stats in this were alarming.
Also love how society's like ‘oh they're just kids, it doesn't matter bc they won't remember', but the research is like ‘ope, might want to rethink that sentiment'
It's like that 90s movie smart home, but way fucking creepier. The setting was chef's kiss gothic. The main character was great and I loved her connection to the women ‘ghosts'.
Alright, well, I'm a sucker for this series. I totally cried.
I almost DNF'd half way through because the 2nd hand anxiety was too real, but glad I didn't. The ending made up for it.
The whole book felt a little rushed. I wish she'd explored the side plot with the maintenance guy more/earlier. Also, please just send these two to therapy.
The Dust Bowl is definitely one of my least favorite parts of history because there is no way to escape that tragedy. People just waiting and hoping for the weather to change or waiting and hoping for a job.
This book was heartbreaking and I sobbed.
It appears that everyone hated this FMC, but, uh, she was a little too relatable, send help
Solid novel, but wasnt as intense of a thriller as I'd like. Clever use of a not common nickname to hide the connection between the two ladies. I haven't ever heard any Danielle s go by Ellie so well done in that front; I think if she picked Dani instead it would have been very obvious. Also a great use of time and perspective to tell the two stories.
Wow, I really don't know what to say. I struggled to convince myself to keep reading, but once I did pick it up it was hard to put down. (Although that probably says more about me than the book). It was a little gory but well written. I'm glad it didn't end the way I thought it was going to.
Super informative with a mix of both personal anecdotes and more technical research.
Ok this book was way better than the first. I think not having to set up the premise really helped move the story along.
Darcy and Tory are less annoying. We get perspectives from the boys, which helps humanize them. And there's actually spice!
Fae-book still drives me crazy and I think the whole fae/order thing is dumb. Like, just call them vampires. But they haven't said seed yet so I'm calling it a win.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book. I read it in one sitting (for book club) and it definitely kept me engaged to do so. But the blurb gave away the book? Like there weren't any surprises along the way. It's really like a prequel to the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale and not a retelling itself, kind of like Wicked by Gregory McGuire actually. I'd heard there was a big cliffhanger, but I don't think there was? Like I really don't think I need the second book at all. I was also expecting a bigger romance, but that's probably just the usual BookTok inflation.
The writing was great and the magic system was excellent. So I do recommend it, just don't read the back right before reading the book itself.
3.5 stars but rounding up because it was much better than I was expecting it to be. Pretty average romance based on what I usually read. The husbandry school is hilarious and I wish it existed in real life.
Solid mystery/thriller. Pretty much finished it in one sitting because I wanted to see where it would go next. 10/10 for strong female characters
Wow. This should really be taught in school. It's hard now to look at America past and present and not see the caste.
