Ngl i read the 1st chap and it was a snooze fest, but I wanted to read it n see how Anna was surviving so I continued and at one point about halfway through the 2 chap I couldn't take it anymore with the main character Lib she was soo f***ing ANNOYING. And I wanted to dnf but like I said wanted to see what was going on with Anna so decided to read the chapter summaries and once I was done I skimmed thru the last 2 chapters and let me tell you its not worth it. The reason behind everything is believable and at the same time unbelievable.
So mad at myself for wasting time on this coz the 1 chap is literally 73 PAGES LONG. Like no thank you. Good bye
“There is no such thing as bad people. We're all just people who sometimes do bad things.”I came close to crying while reading this a couple of times, but didn't actually cry. But the authors note broke me.The writing was beautiful, and its contents were so hard to read but [a:Colleen Hoover 5430144 Colleen Hoover https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1464032240p2/5430144.jpg]'s writing made it a hundred and ten times more easier.I loveddd the side characters, Marshall and Alyssa specially!![a:Colleen Hoover 5430144 Colleen Hoover https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1464032240p2/5430144.jpg] I want to be you when I grow up.Naked truth: There were a few scenes which were so hard for me to read, so I didn't actually read those parts I just skimmed through, coz I felt that reading those scenes would bring up unwanted memories within me which I would like to stay hidden.Quotes I loved 1)“All humans make mistakes. What determines a person's character aren't the mistakes we make. It's how we take those mistakes and turn them into lessons rather than excuses.” 2)“It stops here. With me and you. It ends with us.” 3)“Just because someone hurts you doesn't mean you can simply stop loving them. It's not a person's actions that hurt the most. It's the love. If there was no love attached to the action, the pain would be a little easier to bear.” 4)“Fifteen seconds. That's all it takes to completely change everything about a person. Fifteen.” 5)“Naked truths aren't always pretty.”
When I was done with this what went on in my mind was, “WTF did I just read?!?!?!”.All I knew going into this was that this was written by [a:Gillian Flynn 2383 Gillian Flynn https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1232123231p2/2383.jpg] and it is a short story, that's it.I expected it to be dark because after all this is [a:Gillian Flynn 2383 Gillian Flynn https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1232123231p2/2383.jpg] we are talking about, but not at this level. Before starting it I thought 60 pages huh? It will be a breeze. But was it!? Noo the boy Miles was super creepy and I found myself constantly saying WTF?! WTF?! WTF?!!!. And THAT ENDING!!! I was so spooked in the last few chapters(prob coz I read it at around 2.30am lol) And even though I enjoyed the book I was so glad when it ended.I found myself empathizing with Susan coz I feel like most of the stuff she went through I related to it.
Guyss!! this book!! READ IT!!
Even tho it was a 450+ page book i finished it in abt 2 days or smthg coz its soo goodd!!
At first it felt like a 4 star but the last paragraph just upgraded it to a 5 star
I learnt so much and idk if the author is a psychologist or he has done deep research but everything was so interesting to read.(how psychopaths think, work,do stuff, etc)
If it isn't obvious already HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!
I am def reading the rest of the series starting from book #1 and hopefully all of them r similar to this in terms of the psychological aspects.
I read this with my boyfriend which made the book and the experience of reading it, infinity times betterr:))
4.5
What a great way to end to end the series! It was so nostalgic to get immersed into the story again and I had so much fun! The representation in the book is amazing! LOVE IT
2.5Read this a few days ago so I can post a review on Nov 9.So this is the 2nd book I read by [a:Colleen Hoover 5430144 Colleen Hoover https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1464032240p2/5430144.jpg] (the other one I read was verity) and I felt like this was gonna be my fav of hers but there were a few reasons why it wasn't. “One of the things I always try to remind myself is that everyone has scars,” she says. “A lot of them even worse than mine. The only difference is that mine are visible and most people's aren't.”The idea of this story was very unique and intriguing so I was very excited to read the book and I didn't expect it to finish so fast (2 sittings! That's a personal record lol)Before “November 9” was just a date that didn't mean anything, but now whenever the date comes every year I'll be reminded of this book. It is a book that leaves an impact let me tell you that. The story is told from Ben and Fallon's pov. But what's weird is that even though this is a romance book I didn't like the romance in it:( “We don't get to choose our parents, and parents don't get to choose their children. But we do get to choose how hard we're willing to work in order to make the best of what we're given.”The first 75% or so was amazing and I felt like this was gonna be a 5 star but the last few chapters with the twist (the last 2 November 9's) were what made me not like the romance in it. Instead, I loved the other relationships in the book. It taught me so much about family, parents, losses friendships, etc. I didn't find myself crying about Ben and Fallon but about the other relationships that the characters had were what made me cry. (second time I actually cried for a book, the first book I cried was for [b:Everything's Fine 22583928 Everything's Fine Janci Patterson https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png 41781931] by [a:Janci Patterson 5625942 Janci Patterson https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1630041640p2/5625942.jpg] and I have come close to crying for two other books) I am glad I read this in the night coz no one witnessed me, if I had read this during the day my brothers would have made fun. *sighBy no means is the ending bad it just makes you rethink things (and in things I mean life etc) in a whole different perspective.Ooh alsoo I read somewhere that [b:Ugly Love 17788401 Ugly Love Colleen Hoover https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1632597571l/17788401.SY75.jpg 24878172] references are made in this book(miles and Tate) so should I read that next?Overall enjoyed the book and cant wait to read more by [a:Colleen Hoover 5430144 Colleen Hoover https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1464032240p2/5430144.jpg] !Edit:The book has been on my mind a lot lately and not in a good way, coz some of the things Ben did rubbed me the wrong way. And that combined with the ‘twist' made me lower my rating to a 2.5
3.5
It would have been a 4/4.5 star read if it didn't drag on for so long.
But I really enjoyed reading it!! Got book 2 from d library so excited to read it:)
3 stars coz I enjoyed reading the confessions and the artwork. As for the plot, still trying to figure out what happened.
Did I read the same book as everyone else? I feel like the book I read and what everyone else read was COMPLETELY different.
We get the exact same story from 5 different perspectives and I was SO BORED.
There's no build up, no character development and the revenge? Please I have read much much better revenge stories than this.
If the book had ended with just the 1 chap it would have been a def 5 star coz I loved the 1 chap but then it kept going and I just lost interest after one point.
I feel like I am being lenient by giving this 2 stars and the only reason for that is I loved how the book portrayed relationships between a parent and a child coz obviously everyone is unique and everyone is different and this book showed that. And that's the ONLY reason I am rating this 2 stars.
4.25
WOWW, I am trying to think of smthg to write for this review but I am speechless, so many things going on in my head at once.
1)I had a theory of who might be the killer and I was wrong so very happy abt that.
2)The ending was insane and I loved how the murderer did everything based on a simple poem.
3)The last few chapters had my heart racing and I was constantly wondering what was gonna happen next, who was gonna get killed next, etc.
4)Amazing how this this book which was written in the 1940's has this much of a crazy plot with an even more crazy ending.(I can see why the book is still very popular despite it being pub years ago)
It was a bit hard to keep track of the characters ngl but still I really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this book more than the second one woww is all I can say...and the story left me wanting more..
I really enjoyed the start and I felt the writing was strong and I loved getting to know the main characters. Each felt like they had a great backstory. I found Angela a great main character too and I enjoyed reading the story from her pov. However I did feel it wasn't nearly as creepy as I expected but I really did enjoy this book much more than the second one(unknowingly I read the 2nd book “Breaking” first
3.5-3.75
Quick and easy read, very fast paced short chapters. But the content really threw me off and the ‘twist'.
I really enjoyed reading this!
My first book by Sarah Pekkanen and from start to finish I was hookeddd, some parts had me in suspense and had me holding my breathe wondering what was gonna happen next.
The chapters are short and gripping enough that you can finish this in one setting, which is what I did.
Def recommend it!
4.25!!
My fav book so far...America annoyed me again:( but I was able to get past that..I lovee how the book ended and now I want to read the next 2 books in the series just to see how America and Maxon are..Lovee it!!
3.5
The way its written makes you feel like ur watching d story unfold right before your eyes
very sad ending:(
3.5 starI read the book a few days ago and the reason the review is kinda late is coz whenever I thought of the book my mind went blank for some reason.I started the book thinking 254 pages, it will be a breeze, but it wasn't, the book took me so much longer than I expected, to get into but as the story went on and became more suspenseful it sped up.There are times while reading a book when I feel bored or smthg I read its reviews to make me more excited for it and almost every review for [b:Sharp Objects 18045891 Sharp Objects Gillian Flynn https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1475695315l/18045891.SY75.jpg 3801] mentioned a huge twist. So while reading the last chapter I was so disappointed I thought oh that's it?! That's the huge twist? Not much of a twist there, and then the epilogue came and I was SHOOK. Didn't expect it.Also forgot to mention this but the twist was put in such a way that you don't realize it? I'm putting it as a question because as soon as I realized the “twist” I reread that part a few times and then only got it. So well written and it just sneaks up on you. However I must say I wasn't a huge fan of our protagonist, Camille I can't put a finger on what exactly I didn't like about her but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth.Well with that being said I'm glad I finally got around to reading [b:Sharp Objects 18045891 Sharp Objects Gillian Flynn https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1475695315l/18045891.SY75.jpg 3801] and now the only book I have left to read by [a:Gillian Flynn 2383 Gillian Flynn https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1232123231p2/2383.jpg] is [b:Dark Places 5886881 Dark Places Gillian Flynn https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1354988288l/5886881.SY75.jpg 6873353].
Lovedddd it!! Now I see why this book that was pub in 1934 is still hyped...that ending? *chefs kissIt had all the things I love in a book; Winter setting ✔️A murder to solve ✔️And a special bonus in this one: Hercule poirot (If you have read [a:Enid Blyton 10657 Enid Blyton https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1298204474p2/10657.jpg]'s the five find outers series, Fatty who is the leader of the five find outers is just like Hercule poirot, he sees clues other people miss, he is able to pick out little details and is able to solve the case so reading this one felt like reading one of the five find outers books except for a bigger audience and I enjoyed it!)But it was a bit slow for me coz the writing was a bit hard to understand but other than that no issues...Highly recommend!
