Received this from author in exchange for my honest review
This was an enjoyable and engrossing book, I couldn't put it down.
There was a lot of funny aspects like the banter between some characters.
I love fantasy books and anything faerie related, im not the biggest fan of romance but this isn't a big aspect but does add to the story.
Belle did great with world and character building and also thr growth of those characters
I can't wait till book 2
Thank you Belle for allowing me the opportunity to read your book
This was a nice easy book to read a big change to my usual quite faced pace, world building fantasy books.
I read this as a standalone not knowing till I finished that it was the 2nd book in a series. I can't say I really noticed it it was perfectly good being read on its own.
There some quite sad moments throughout the book but on the whole it was lighthearted and a lovely christmas read.
I received this book as ARC from the author.
This is the first book in the Amalgam Chronicles fantasy series. It has an unusual band of characters that are found throughout the story when they keep being sent through disappearing portals between worlds.
The story principal was good however the writing wasn't. Some sections I thought were very confusing or should have been expanded on such as describing what characters looked like and sometimes there's no clear dialogue direction. The multiple POV often got confusing and wasn't clear and the narrators voice sometimes seems to shift. I enjoyed the diverse characters and the portrayal of Blue the cat and I thought the world building was also well thought out.
I would say the books is more YA or for a mature child as there are a few mild sexual references and slight gory sections.
I gave the book a 3 as the writing needs to be edited and parts of the story expanded however saying that, I am looking forward to future books in the series and hopefully the writing will get better.
A fantasy novel by Michael Scott, the second book in the six part series, The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.
15 year old twins, Sophie and John Newman are now in Paris with the alchemyst, Nicholas Flamel and his friend, Scathach. They now face Niccolò Machiavelli and his rival but also colleague John Dee.
While avoiding Machiavelli and Dee they travel to some friends of Flamels who help Sophie with her new powers and train her in controlling her aura and using elemental magic of fire.
This is definitely a children's series it is a good book and series however the twins are I.mature especially Josh, which is expected with them being children. This book definitely has more action than the previous book.
I like how the book is partly based on real historical people and also myths however some action scenes where a little too long.
This is one of those books that answers a 100 questions you had from the first book but makes you think of another 100.
It was a great book and carried on perfectly from the previous ending.
There are so many unexpected twists and turns in this book.
I went through such a range of emotions reading this book.
I enjoyed the book so much and really hope it's not long till the 3rd because wow do I have a lot of questions that need answering.
There where a few bits that I was thinking, speed up a bit and just get on with it but I mostly enjoyed it.
But really another cliffhanger, you just leave thinking what and why
OMG I loved this book and did expect the ending at all. I knew there was something different about her but I did not see that coming at all, that was totally unexpected.
I'm loving all the characters, theyre all very different but you can see how they've changed even just from throne of glass (first book of the series I read).
This is one of those books I'd been meaning to read for quite a while and totally regret not reading earlier.
I'm not into vampires but this book was brilliant it's very well written I didn't feel like any parts of the book was too slow or could have been left out.
I can't wait to read the next books in the series.
Once again, Michael Webb has written a brilliant adventure book.
Yes, it involves teens, but is the book only for YA, no way. It reminds me of the treasure hunting films that I've loved since I was small (Indiana Jones, National Treasure, maybe even a little of Jumanji).
It carries on from the previous book, but it is a bit of a separate story. This time, the group are trying to find the Lost City of Kyltaria, as before they encounter lots of trouble and some betrayal mixed in that slow them down.
It's a well written book with good engaging characters and great world building. This book, like the last one, is more story and character built. The world isn't that important until they get to the Lost City. It was a nice, easy to understand read and like before I thoroughly enjoyed it. The power system that Michael has done is brilliant. These characters don't just have a limitless supply, so they have to be careful, and as each character has a different power, they have to work as a team a lot throughout the story.
I would like to thank Michael again for giving me this book as an ARC, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and these are all my own views

This is a great book however it lost 2 stars because it is so similar with another series by SJM. It is a great book and series though and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
This book carried on great from the previous book but was definitely more romance driven than the previous ones. I believe this did decrease the plot lines a bit though.
This book was more character driven I feel like not a lot happened for so many pages and a lot of it was predictable.
There were new characters introduced in this book and we did get some background knowledge on them later on, some of them I feel didn't make much of a storyline contribution.
There are some parts in the story that I feel could be built on such as political conflicts and some of the more complex situations were solved quite basically. This is likely due to being YA book but this to me felt like we were missing information that could have added a bit more depth to the story.
I still gave it a 3 start though because the writing was good and the over all story. I am still looking forward to reading the next books in the story.
( I received this an ARC book in return for an honest review)
I thought the writing of flowed very well and the action was well written without being rushed but fast enough that it didn't feel like it was being dragged on. The ending was good and made me want to read the next book to find out what happens to the brothers and if the unintentional betrayal get resolved.
I thought the relationships between the characters where well done and developed throughout the book.
Even though I enjoyed the book and will recommend it to other people I feel that the environment the book was set in could have been expanded on. The places weren't really described and I wasn't able to picture them easily. I didn't quite understand the mention of the fae courts and what they had to do with the story.
For a debut book I thought it was good and I can definitely see the potential for this series and I'm very much looking forward to read the Ashley's future books.
This was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it.
I thought the characters were brilliant and I was always wondering what going to happen next and who reading havoc. I wasn't however suprised to find out who it was though, both me and my friend saw it coming.
Definitely going to carry on reading the series and would recommend to others
ARC REVIEW*
I would give this book if I could 3.5 stars. It took me 40-50% of the book to properly get into it, I still enjoyed it all, but I feel that's where the story picked up.
Brady did well at the world building as well as dual POV, which I've found many authors seemed to struggle to do really well. Nearly everything in this book was given a name, the plants, the creatures, and he did well at the naming along with the characters.
There were some aspects of the book that I sort of thought about why was that added in or not expanded on more.
Katsi rescued a lizard like animal right at the beginning of the book, nursed it back to health, and felt comfort having it but then releases it back into the wild because she feels its no longer safe for him. We never see this little guy again, which I think is a real shame, especially with how long katsina has him.
The kiss scene seemed a bit rushed. They kissed, and she stabbed him, and then they just went on about their day like nothing ever happened.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, The characters were well thought out, and the world building was done very well. There were slow aspects in the book, but when it did pick up, it was very good, and I can feel this carrying on into the 2nd and hopefully other future books.
I love these sort of adventure stories, the only thing I really read is fantasy with elves and dragons and things like that so this was right up my alley.
It was a good book to read I did get a bit overwhelmed with the introduction of so many characters but I loved the twists.
I like that the book wasn't too serious throughout and there was bits of humour added.
There was a lot in this book and it feels like it was building for future books so I hope that's the case but it would work as stand alone as well. Unfortunately due to the multiple POV there were bits that became repetitive.
Some events did seem to have more build up than I think was necessary.
(Thank you very much to the author for my early copy of the book)(A review had been written previously but problems caused me to lose it)
Thank you to netgalley and orbit for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book follows Isolde and Warren Wilby as they solve a royal mystery. There are a range of characters along the way, each playing their own important role in the story.
Before this story I had no heard of Bancroft so I wasn't sure what I was getting into but the description sounded interesting.
I quite liked Isolde and Warren as they're older than most characters found in popular fantasy books and I enjoyed the over all story.
However I found that the story didn't flow very well, multiple occasions it seemed to jump and I got a bit confused about what happened.
It isn't a book that I probably would have picked and bought in a shop but I am pleased I requested it on netgalley. I will likely look for the next book in the series as I enjoyed the story I just think some of the writing could do with a bit of work.
I read this book originally as an ARC but thought this challenge was a great time to revisit this brilliant world.
This is one of those sort of slow start books that still draws you in from the first instance.
Jim's writing is brilliant and it's normal there's no trying to dazzle the readers which word play he just goes straight in to writing an amazing story with normal pretty down to earth characters.
The book follows 3 characters with others joining them throughout.
Overall world building was brilliant and characters were well written and believable.
I couldn't put this book down and it was one of those books that I kept reading when I should have probably been sleeping 😂.
Did I mention it had flying lizards as well (who doesn't love dragons)
Usually, I'm not that into novellas. Often, they add a bit of extra info, but nothing that really builds on the story, nothing that adds just as much intrigue and interest as the regular novels. Well, in true Cahill form , he has done all this again in The Ice.
So this new book is focues on Aeson and how he found the dragon egg (you know the one that hatches into a lovely dragon in the first book, if you have no clue what I'm talking about STOP READING NOW! And go start the series)
This book is slightly different because we already know the outcome, we know the egg got back safely, and he protected for however long he had to. This did make me wonder if it might be a little boring cause why read something if you know what happens, but I could not be more wrong.
This was definitely the darkest book in the series so far, maybe even a little horror like. These parts really showed how unrelenting and dangerous Valacia was or maybe is.
There is a lot of family and relationship talk throughout this book, and how important these aspects are to these characters. We got introduced to many new characters alongside Aeson and his sons Erik and Dahlen. It was great to delve more into Aesons life and his friends. That character really pulls on your heart strings he has gone through so much and lost so many people.
It made me realise how important Aeson is to the whole story. Without him, we would have no dragon, no draleid (no series, lol).
Once again, Ryan has created a very descriptive and well written book. Everything is so well described that you really feel like you're in the story with these characters. He has done so well with making this book so gripping even though the ending is already known.
Thank you again, Ryan, for an ARC copy. I can't wait to carry on this journey further.
Harry potter has always been one of my favourite series and maybe giving it 5 stars is a little high but I love these books and they are a comfort read for a familiar world to dive back into whenever I need to.
This is one of my favourites in the series despite what happens at the end, this is where the real darker parts start and where the adventures begin.
