Bryson is always entertaining, and this book made me want to (and sometimes not want to) hike the appalachian trail. Bill Bryson makes it seem like it would be a very entertaining time.
This book was an excellent read. I am amazed at the stories this guy tells. I mean, he'd given up on running and got back into it by putting on sneakers and running 30 something miles after being out drinking all night. So 30 something miles on a whim. That's pretty amazing.
So I give it four stars because it makes me want to get off my ass and run.
However, I got the feeling that if I met this guy in the real world I'd find him to be a cocky asshole. Maybe he's not, but that's the feeling I got.
It's a book full of some information on nearly everything there it. I am always astounded by how much this guy knows about things.
This book was something. I think maybe it was just a bit too much for me to wrap my head around. I'll have to go back and read a bit about it to see why I didn't like it as much as some people. But no, I didn't really like it.
I think I picked this up in the airport to read on the plane on my way to somewhere. Though I loved some of Gibson's other books, I couldn't get into this one and eventually just stopped reading it. This one just wasn't for me.
this book us dense with information. definitely not for everyone. However, if you're interested in eating a low carb diet and training for endurance sports, this is definitely for you.
In typical OSC fashion, this book went deep into political nonsense which took away from the fun fantasy work it had built up. And for really no good payoff. The ending felt incredibly rushed and really kind of easy. Good series, bad ending.
God this book was great. I haven't had nightmares from reading a book in ages. This book literally had me waking up gasping. I'm glad to be done. I'm a good way.
This book was a lot of fun. A good intro into Sanderson's stuff. Looking forward to reading the other two.
This book is phenomenal. As a romantic novel it's moving. I mean, Oprah loved it, right? But as a time travel novel it's astounding. Everything works. There's no star trek type time travel cheating. It all works chronologically. Everything that happens did happen or will happen. It's awesome. I love this book.
Though this book wasn't as amusing as some of his other books, I really enjoyed Bryson's story of growing up in a small town in the 50s.
