i ignored this book on my shelf for years because red books just turn me off reading them.. idk why. Also minimalist book covers have the same effect so this book just looked ugly to me and YES i do judge a book by its cover.
But my history with Ugly Book Covers Are Written Masterpieces has yet again shown up and provided me with a solid 4 star read ! !
i didn't like everything and i usually would say this was an average 3 star book but it was so damn entertaining and fun that i can't not rate it 4 stars like WOAH
i love Joe Hill he is a king (no pun intended) but this wasn't for me.
Wasn't fun to read, the horror was short lived and the story was blurry to me as it was so rushed
I did see the message and i respect it but the story just wasn't enjoyable. It felt very lacking of anything. It felt like if you gave AI the words -Wolves, train, morally debatable- and pressed enter and it gave you this 30 pages jumble.
hm so... the whole book was great until the ending and the little plot twists before the big plot twist. They weren't needed at all and take away from the story.
I didn't like the end or any of the plot twists but i still am rating this 4 stars because of the writing, characters, setting and just everything until the last 50 pages.
This book had me sweating and i had to close the book so many times because it was making me sooo nervous. I definitely want to read more books from this author!
the writing style is either a love it or hate it kinda thing.. it wasn't for me but it is for others and i just know they'll love this book.
I loved the stories and characters but the side characters had more personality than the main characters which was weird but i loved the whole cast and their dynamics :)

I have a small amount left to read but it's impossible. Reading this is like walking on shards of glass.. pointless and painful.
I spent $16.99 on this book through audible and i can't even return it because i'm locked out of the account so not only was this a bad book but also a financial loss UGH.
Story was good but the characters made the book insufferable to read.
....Like what was the point of writing Cat as a character if we weren't meant to hate her?
Characters only had stereotypes, no personalities.
I love humour in books but as an author you need to know when to stop. Characters being near death or going through something serious and then a character says something “funny” every paragraph and it just ruins it. It cuts down whatever emotional feeling a reader might have when reading an emotional scene.
enough drama to satisfy me but too much incest... like more than Colleen Hoover usually writes in a book.
I am a Colleen Hoover stan through and through, love her writing, love the drama she brings to the table but the women clearly has an incest kink and she gotta sort that out in therapy and not in the NY times best sellers chart.
it was an alright story, a bit flat most of the time.
I do have one big issue though- the age gap relationships were never explained. I love age gaps when both parties are adults. I don't want to read about two men who love this 17 year old girl and who mention “you are so mature for your age” “i'm scared because youre so young...“
This stuff happens irl but when it's fictional the author should at least explain that this is wrong and is not something you should be doing but she didn't.
I don't know why it took me so long to read this as Elizabeth Smart has been my inspiration and idol for more than a decade. I looked to her for strength when I had hard times, I admired her attitude and outlook on life. I still do and she still is my favourite person in this whole world.
I knew everything about her case already but this went into detail and honestly it was really hard to read. Crimes against children will forever warrant a death sentence in my opinion.
the cringiest serial killer.
He's seen as the coolest, most bad ass, attractive serial killer but he is so cringe and I get second hand embarrassment from him.
he's like “ah shoot me now, I don't want to go to jail pls mr jailer, just kill me. I want to die“ but also he's always like “pls don't kill me please I want to live in prison, no death sentence pls :((( omg I don't deserve this :(“

Died at age 53 but he deserved to die earlier as his prison time was actually quite pleasant to him because of all the insane women who sent him nudes and letters, so much so that he had no room in his cell for all of them so he had to get people to put them into storage for him.
He should've had a worse prison sentence.
