Holy shit i loved this book. I went into this book knowing absolutely nothing about it and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I just loooovveed the plot, at first I thought “wow this is amazing, this can't get any better, right, right??” Wrong. The story went into some place I did not expect it to go and it was amazing. Can't wait to start reading the sequels. Did I already mention that I love this book?
so this book was really disappoiniting. i think it's safe to say that i'm not the only one who expected something more.. dranatic maybe or just something more nerve wracking. but the reason i mainly disliked the book was, that the depressed little girl, yes i even forgot her name, was being such a pain in the ass. how could you get so depressed by little things like she did. it just didn't make sense and made the book unenjoyable. but of course, this is just my opinion.
Gotta say: I adored this book. It is a really nice read through. It's a realpy nice childrens book, although there is a scene about split heads, other than that I think it's really nice. The illustrations are beautiful and it is nice to see that there is a book written by GRRM that doesn't include chopping the main characters heads off and having incest. I was kinda unsure about the world, it said that the world was the same as the one from A song of ice and fire, although it contains dragons, I do not think it's the exact same world. I have to admit, I find the ending really sad, first of all the dragon dying and also that Adara became so “summery”, I liked her coldness and I didn't see any sadness from her side about the Ice dragon dying. Other than that, once again a really great story, and I hope to read it to my children once.
Wow! It was soo hard for me to put this book down. I kinda wish that there was more of it to read. But I'm really happy about it. It was better than I actually expected it to be. The rose society was much darker than the young elites, but exactly those dark moments were the ones who forced me to read more and more and to never put it down. I'm really hoping for a third book, because I'd loved to see how it continues (actually I'm also kinda scared of what will happen).
Anyway, I recommend this book to any fan of fantasy, who also likes to follow the story of a villain. But I must say, this is one of those villains who everybody loves... and fears.
OOOOMMMGGG this was soo great, like wooooww!!! My first Marie Lu book and I LOVED it. i don't know why so many people hate Adelina, or atleast i think they hate her. I think she's awesome, even though she's kinda bad, but still totally good. I don't know why, but she kinda reminded me of Rengar (League of Legends), he's a cat-preadator thingy and Adelina's a human, but still. kinda the same right? yes? no? okay...
However this book was amazing, must read if you haven't read it yet!!
Well, sadly I can only give this book 3.5 stars. I had reaaaalllyyyy high expectations, since it was so hyped up. But my expectations were too high and the book didn't really give me anything. I never really had that moment where I was at the edge of my seat. I really do hope that others can enjoy this book, it is well written but the rest didn't really apply to me.
Anyway, it was still a good book, no doubt about it. But I hoped to get more out of it and just nothing came.
I took forever to read this book. So the thing about this book is.. It's really dull. Well yes the expectations were really high, which did not help. The plot itself was really underwhelming, and when finally it gotten a wee bit interesting the book was already finished. Like literally the last 5 pages??
The writing was not doing me any favors either, as it consisted mostly of dialogue and didn't give the book any depth.
